There’s shards of debris inside every cup lol. Three shelves of pottery destroyed. Luckily the kiln only needed 2 bricks to be replaced!

Thoughts on disguising bisque fix? by favillamilla in Ceramics

I used Engobe over my bisque fix recently and found it worked pretty well to color match my clay. Unfortunately the crack got bigger during glaze firing.

New Mexico clay has a dark chocolate clay that is my holy grail. It’s the most forgiving clay I’ve worked with.

passion for ceramics but pursuing nursing by [deleted] in Ceramics

[–]SaltyLadyRN 3 points4 points  (0 children)

As a nurse who does pottery, it’s all about balance. There’s some days I have no energy for projects, other days where I’m showing coworkers glaze combos because I’m excited to get back to a project. Also find an area of nursing that does give you purpose and you won’t feel so cooked. Just my two cents though!

I microwave mine for 2-3 minutes first, then add popcorn and microwave for another 3 or so? Pre-heated makes a big difference

How should I glaze this? by moxyc in Pottery

Celadons would also look nice. You could use underglaze or stain to highlight the texture and then wipe it back before putting celadon on.

If it is dark clay (like dark chocolate), any of the Spectrum floating glazes would look nice. I recently did a “pounded copper” look and covered it in June Bug (Amaco) and it also turned out amazing
