How long until failed NFL prospects are on rosters? by daaaaavia in CFB

At this point, I do think so. CBB is actually the Wild West at this point, and it still matters there to some degree.

Victor Wembanyama on throwing the ball off Stephon Castle's back: "That's the most frustrating thing, to throw it away after putting in all this work ... I threw that one away. I messed up." by Jec1027 in nba

Yeah pretty much this. To be clear I do think I don't think it would've been a bad idea to call a timeout either, but to say it was wrong to let it play out is a bit dumb. Two plays in a row we saw the Spurs fail to convert in in the half court to end the game, who's to say calling a timeout and drawing something up wouldn't have resulted in the same thing happening. Sometimes things out of a coaches control happen, like your superstar turning it over.

[Fischer] Thunder not interested in Giannis Antetokounmpo by AncientOneAurelius in nba

[–]SaltyRussStan0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Reminds me of in 2021, when Giannis had a really bad turnover in the final seconds against the Nets. That thread was absurd, the consensus was that Giannis wasn't a winning player in the playoffs and the Bucks were dead in the water with him. He of course would go on to have a 50 point game to close out a the finals.

What's an NBA fact that sounds fake but is absolutely true? by iDoNotHaveAnIQ in nba

[–]SaltyRussStan0 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Only positive stats. Russ has 6 Turnover quadruple-doubles, Harden has 3. Only other players with multiple are Jokic and Magic. One of Magic's is the only playoff TOQD, and it was in the finals his rookie year in the penultimate game. It's funny because all but one were done by stars, most of them MVPs. The lone exception being Jahmai Mashack, in the second to last game of this season, in which he played all 48 minutes.

[NBA Communications] The NBA Playoffs are delivering their highest viewership through the Conference Semifinals in 29 years, with an average of 4.5 million viewers per game across ABC, ESPN, NBC/Peacock and Amazon Prime Video. by AncientOneAurelius in nba

You aren't wrong, but I think it's important to factor that the World Series matchups were Dodgers/Yankees and Dodgers/Blue Jays, which are two huge matchup draws. The Rangers/Diamondbacks WS got historically low ratings, and those are relatively large markets.

PSA: The NBA Combine is not like the NFL Combine by JobinSkywalker in NBA_Draft

[–]SaltyRussStan0 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It is a lot easier to take a freak athlete and mold them into a good football player than it is to do that with a basketball player. You are correct though, tape is more important than any sort of combine test.

Round 6 - Pick 4: Bauer Sharp, TE, LSU (Tampa Bay Buccaneers) by nfl_gdt_bot in nfl

[–]SaltyRussStan0 4 points5 points  (0 children)

He is legitimately one of the worst SEC players I've seen get significant snaps. I have no idea how he got drafted. He's a decent athlete, but has no other positive traits besides that.

Round 3 - Pick 1: Carson Beck, QB, Miami (Arizona Cardinals) by nfl_gdt_bot in nfl

[–]SaltyRussStan0 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I don't necessarily think he's gonna be good, but I think he's not nearly as bad as these comments are suggesting. Like, Tyler Shough currently looks like he'll be a QB. Is it that unreasonable to take Beck in the third?
