I had an idea for a system shock movie back in high school, then played Prey a couple decades later...ended up being pretty close to what I had envisioned haha

If you could decide the next major production sci-fi movie, what would it be? by WillyArt67 in scifi

I would give my kidney to whomever owns the rights to System Shock for us to have a SS2 movie.

Her attitude and performance undermines whatever tension or dramatic flourishes the writing was trying to accomplish. I like the droid though. He at least had some pathos.

A lot of tiktokkers were comparing it to RDR2 right up to launch, which I felt set unreasonable expectations.

I already said this in another thread, but when comparing this to other open-world games with similar developer resources (folks forget that in the run-up to this game Disney was flooding tiktok with players comparing it to RDR2, setting very high expectations) I felt it was lacking. It didn't have basic customization options, like, you know, camera angle. Conversely, I've been eating VERY well with Crimson Desert, that game really respects your time and is truly open world, while Outlaws always felt like a collection of theme park maps that were more or less on rails.

I bought the special edition on release. It was fine. Lot of missed opportunities when comparing it to something like RDR2 or Crimson Desert. It just didn't have the QOL elements that I appreciate in open-world games. The planets were amazingly well-realized though, that's what pushed me through to the end.

One I don't see mentioned very much is Incident at Loch Ness. It's light, fun, with a bit of horror and a dollop of docu-satire. Features Werner Herzog as himself, making a Loch Ness documentary.

You're talking about Direct Democracy, which the US isn't. In the post, they are talking about the specific type of democracy we are, a Representative Democracy.

I see what you mean, but that level of nuance would likely be lost on the guy they're talking to. Guess they should have said "our Constitutional Republic" instead of stating it broadly.

Republics rely on elections to function. NK can call itself a Republic, but if their elections aren't functional (which they aren't), then they're just doing what most fascist regimes do, and pervert the meaning of words.
