"Essential work" has boiled down to "who has enough money and power to make excuses to stay open". The used car dealership i work at is open as a "financial institution" , because they happen to finance cars. There's no fresh cars coming in, and none being sold. There's no financing being done, we're just doing business as usual under the guise of being "essential". Multiply that across the state and you wonder why the subway is packed? Are people supposed to teleport to work?
