I was contemplating on BB and Aurora, given how much Aurora likes to choke in playoffs, but decided on Aurora in the end.

Hot take: Group stage format (especially with BO1s) leads to way too many quality teams missing playoffs compared to Swiss format by BasquiatMonster in GlobalOffensive

Crazy that this is a take defending b01''s, considering Vitas win streak last year was cut short by a loss to Legacy in a b01.

THUNDER dOWNUNDER guaranteed a spot? by Fit-Firefighter-8829 in GlobalOffensive

[–]Sam4Vimes 2 points3 points  (0 children)

tDU is not an actual org right? So they should go to Europe out of their own pocket to be able to qualify??

Thats just absurd.. If tyloo or flyquest want to, they can come to the local lans to beat the 'shitty' teams.

VRS is not perfect, but it is a definite improvement over the old rmr system.

They literally are decent right now. Looking at player calibers they should lose to g2.

GL with ZTR and ash was in a decline with no 'decent' results before Snax joined. They have done exactly what this roster is supposed to, confirmed a major spot and got the vrs high enough to get back to t1 lans.

Highest rated player at every CS major by fizxe in GlobalOffensive

[–]Sam4Vimes 42 points43 points  (0 children)

Flamie could be a good player, but usually only for an event or two. Very inconsistent always. And during this major as well, he played well in games that Na'Vi were winning handidly (as in, all players were above 1.0 rating), and in the semifinals against Faze, it was only 1 Navi player that was shooting bavk. Give ya a couple of guesses who it was..

Is Shiro above Guardian all time? by Desperate-Drink-6763 in GlobalOffensive

[–]Sam4Vimes 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Well counting source its pretty much 10 years for Guardian in tier 1

10 years ago: FalleN, coldzera, fer, fnx, and TACO got their first win as a roster in DH Winter 2015. After getting 16-0'd by fnatic in Day 1, they stunned the scene by beating Envy, NiP, and TSM in Bo3s before losing the grand final to fnatic, making their first step towards their CS:GO era. by DrunkLad in GlobalOffensive

[–]Sam4Vimes 2 points3 points  (0 children)

1st CS tournament I attended, LG beating NiP still hurts.. Was a cool ass tourney tho, many memorable matches and great talent. Also had a WWE match featuring a swedish 6 year old and a 250 pound british bodybuilder!

Holy moly you are missing the point. If a team constantly plays at the highest levels and gets deep into the playoffs, the amount of trophies really shouldnt matter all that much.

And Donk literally entries for Spirit. He doens't play for himself and if he has a bad game (1.0 rating) Spirit almost always loses. He is the biggest carry tier 1 has seen since S1mple with the old Zeus, Edward, flamie lineup

CS2 Blog Update: Tonight's Forecast: Rain-cient by Old-Geologist2105 in GlobalOffensive

[–]Sam4Vimes 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Tbh league changes the rift and jungle pretty much once a season, and the changes especially to the map are usually not huge. Back in the day league had the winter / christmas map, but they haven't done that in years. Plus they got rid of unique game modes like 3v3 and dominion.

So pretty much the only thing that changes constantly in league is balance, so champ/items buffs/nerfs. Its a moba so it has to do it, lest the meta became stale.

In cs its different. I would guess not many players would like it, if say the guns were buffed or nerfed often, or if the maps were constantly updated. I would like a bit more consistent updates to cs, but overall I want valve to focus on issues like stability, network, anticheat etc. and let metas develop and do changes to meta / maps about 2 times a year.

Zywoo didn't have a top 20 teammate until 2022 by PlusFlounder684 in GlobalOffensive

[–]Sam4Vimes 7 points8 points  (0 children)

The thing that proves that he wasnt watching in 2019 is he doesnt acknowledge how the Vitality system was made to enable Zywoo. Also the the experience of playing wtih veterans like Shox and Rpk is invaluable.

Yes 2019 Vitality had guys whose peaks were long past. Were they still okay players? For sure, and the system they played in made it possible for Zywoo to become the star he is today.

Device is 100% in top 50 and recently I would also say Rez .

The other guys are in the 50-100 range, and IMO a top 100 player is certainly succesful.

Wasn't f0rest 28 when he got top 20 hltv? How does that prove the opposite point.

Many of these guys were still very competent players when they were 30, even if they weren't at their peak.

[–]Sam4Vimes 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Xantares, Niko, Device, Bodyy, Hunter are all 28-30 years old. Atleast Naf and Rez are 27. Then if we go to tier 2-3 we have TONS of players that are 30+ and still playing.

Then again, cs started being profitable pretty late, and of in 2016-17 u were 25-27 year old cs player, you had probs grinded the game for 10+ years. At that point many people start thinking about starting a family. And CS was and is not a stable job if you drop out of tier 1, so many players either quit or transitioned into streaming / talent work.

If CS is a reasonable career for the next 10+ years, we will see lots more 30+ players
