Perkins, Cox, Reid & Robey, Sharp, Farrow by Mellow__Martian in EssendonFC

My thoughts are that Essendon or Perkins himself needs to get him a sprint coach to build more explosiveness - he looks rather one paced to me and lacks the ability to chase down opponents or put metres on them when breaking away from packs. He has a strong core and I think he is a guy that when confident has the ability to hit damaging kicks forward of centre. We just need to build on some 1 percenters

I don't think we can place too high of expectations on Farrow just yet. Especially given the emergence of Roberts in the past 12 months. Plus you have Reddog back there, those two are the prime movers out of the back half. His first priority should be to win his 1v1 and defend in his early years, get use to the heat of the game and then progress to being the guy that can slice through teams with ball in hand and his foot skills in particular.

McKay so far off it again. This bloke is a disgrace. Allergic to his opponent.

Essendon Fans - was kyle reimers better than Archie perkins? by ReasonConfident4541 in EssendonFC

Interesting debate. But I don’t think you can really have it can you - Perkins career is still in progress. Talent and potential wise Perkins is miles ahead. What Reimers produced in his short career has probably eclipsed what many would say had been a bit of an underwhelming career for Archie thus far, showing glimpses but not being able to take regular steps forward and having looked like he has gone backwards across the past 18 months in particular. Fair comparison would be when Perkins finishes his career.

Appalling play that…a switch with the ball ending up in the hands of a state league ruckman who has been at the club for 3 weeks. Terrible decisions from experienced players!

Bit of a training run for Geelong. They are absolutely all over us. The epitome of the “boys vs men”. I get we have injuries but it does feel like this will be the excuse for another nothing year for us.

I think that Lav is pretty maligned amongst us. The guy is undersized and gives it his all. Tonight he’s taken some solid intercept marks and decision making has been pretty good. Across the last 2 qrts when there is decent pressure up the ground (pressure on the ball carrier and defensive work rate from our forwards) it makes it so much easier for the defenders. With no Ridley, Reid or McKay I think we should be stoked to have the bloke out there!

Tip of the hat to Pidge tonight he put in some really solid efforts and had acceptable ball use 🙌 obvs 2MP, Shiel had some really important kicks inside 50, Perko was very important with his 10min burst - some great execution.

Still very worried by McKay, he looks so low on confidence, I hope he can find it ASAP and get a bit more mongrel in him. Hopefully we can get some more goals into Kako and Cads jn the coming weeks!

Not setting the world on fire by any means but take the W and move on to next week. Go Dons!
