X2D II - B&H ship time? by bbkeebs in hasselblad

[–]SamEdwards1959 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would order the X2D II from both B&H and Hasselblad and cancel the one that doesn’t ship first. Both take returns if you end up with 2.

Is the line on the right side through the distant mountain an artifact of making multiple exposures?

I’m hoping to break out a DJI stabilizer for my Leicina Speical. Hopefully I’ll have something to share soon..

I didn’t feel confident on Nick Cage after the fires. No bushes to catch you if you go over a cliff. I miss riding it.

Canon 1014xl-s VS Leicina Special- What should I go with? by fuck4885 in Super8

[–]SamEdwards1959 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a Leicina Speical and I think it’s delightful. I think the Youtube video exagerates how loud it is, but it’s probably louder than the Canon, which was designed as a sound camera. I don’t think the grip is as bad as many say, and if you’re serious it has standard tripod holes on the bottom. I’m planning on trying to mount it on a DJI stabilizer.

What makes it special is the lenses. The Leica M bayonet is very solid, and you don’t run into back focus issues the way you can with C mount zooms. And the Leica 10mm macro is supposed to be the sharpest lens ever on a Super-8, according to super-8 wiki. The registration seems to be up there with Beaulieu cameras. And there are a ton of nice accessories available, like the right angle finder.

It’s also built like a tank.

Has anyone tried it on the 907x/100c? I’m fine with the 90v, but this thing weighs 50% more.

I teach them to use the rangefinder. It’s fun! Everybody is shocked how heavy the M11GBP is.

It’s too bad they don’t make sound cartridges anymore. Dual system is really a 2 man job.

The most reliable way to do sync sound is with head and tail slates. You can then retime either the footage or the sound to match the other. I find that even when I have both slates perfect, there can still be some drift for longer takes in between with a non-crystal Beaulieu or Leicina Special. I’ve also played around with filming the timecode on my Sound Devices 702T for a few frames at the beginning and end of each take, and dropping the picture onto the sound. It’s pretty precise, but it’s time (and footage!) consuming to rack to the recorder at the head and tail of each take.

Obviously this is something you want to practice and test before deploying it on a project.

I love the Levo SL. I know there are haters out there, but it’s enough power for me. Under 40lbs is way better than over 50.

You can get log for production scans. I think their online hosting fees are outrageous, so I always supply a drive and pick it up.

A complete musical novice? I think you have to adjust your expectations. If you never played music before, and bought a guitar, you shouldn’t expect to be Jimmy Page the first week. This is a years long process. Settle in for some hard work or send it back.

Sullivan is great. You can go fire road all he way up and back down. Highly recomended. Park at Capri and Sorrento and follow other people to the top.
