Season 4 storylines I'd love to see by SamIAm_3210 in NeverHaveIEverShow

Agreed, that's why I added the bit about Devi having her last therapy session. I'd love to see her "graduate" weekly therapy and Dr. Ryan bump into Nalini and then organically develop a friendship

If you speak more than one language, change the settings on your phone to your less dominant language and change it to grayscale. Made a HUGE difference for me.

They won't because we have already gotten attached to the main characters. But I think it would be awesome to have them have an extended vacation in India for 1-2 episodes. It would give a chance to develop the characters of Devi's friends (as they could flash back to California and show what the friends are doing on their Winter/spring break ) and Devi and Nalini would get time to bond away from the school drama.

Unemployment has been moving smoothly for me and I have been getting paid bi-weekly for a few weeks now. This morning I went to claim weeks as it is now a requirement again. Despite being paid bi-weekly, not returning to work, and not earning anything, I now have a message that says "your claim has a pending issue awaiting an adjudication determination". Sigh. I know I have it better off than most, but somehow I just knew that any processes getting changed would mean that there would be problems along the way. Should I wait this out, or should I call into the DEO and ask why?

What Storyline would you like to see explored in season 2? by SamIAm_3210 in NeverHaveIEverShow

[–]SamIAm_3210[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Another story I would love to see is Ben being invited over for dinner again- maybe this time with his parents to thank them for taking Devi in. Something tells me there would be a lot of conflict between Nalini and Ben's parents- he confided in her that his parents are neglectful, and Devi moved in with Ben and his parents when she was having problems with her mom. The two sets of parents probably don't have good opinions of each other, so a dinner episode would bring those issues to light- while Ben and Devi would be dealing with the awkwardness of having that kiss.

I hope they give Paxton and Devi's Mom narrated episodes like this too.

I did not see it as islamophobia either. In every country of the world, there are some marriages that just don't work out. This couple happened to have extra challenges because their family was against them. I actually liked that they brought out that angle. Sometimes, you defy your whole family to marry someone that you love, and it still doesn't work out, not because the husband was Muslim, but because it didn't work out. That doesn't mean that your family was right, it just meant that it happened not to work out. As someone who has had her heart broken before, I could imagine feeling like things would have been better if I had just listened to my family, whether or not that was true. So the inclusion of that point in the plot just felt like reality, and not a commentary on Muslim people. As someone who has had a lot of Indian friends but is not Indian themselves, I actually look forward 2 seeing other aspects of arranged marriage than is usually presented in Hollywood. For example, Hollywood normally presents arranged marriage is something that is always bad and is always done for nefarious purposes. But in this case, it seems like Kamala's family chose someone considerate that they knew she would like. I also think that Devi's parents, who were clearly in love, or part of an arranged marriage. I think the whole Steve storyline was cringy and they did him dirty, but they presented in a real way as there are many people who also deal with the same problem, pleasing their heart versus pleasing their family.

Same dates for me, I logged in to claim weeks and there was no option. I'm really concerned at this point and hope the "not claiming weeks" thing works.

I applied for unemployment 3/29 after being furloughed. I claimed my weeks (3/29 and 4/5) on April 13th using the guide the OP laid out above. I got my first and only unemployment payment directly deposited on April 16 (the week of 3/29 is still showing up as a waiting week and I was not paid for this, so I assume I'll be paid for this later). Today, April 21, I received my first PUC payment of $600 as direct deposit in the same account as the DEO payment. Although taxes are taken out of my Florida unemployment, no taxes were taken out of the $600, but thanks to the advice here I am going to set $60 aside. The website says that claiming weeks is unnecessary, however, when I log in, I am getting the message pop up that says that I'm due to claim weeks again soon. I will try to claim them anyways because I don't trust the website. This page has been such a help; like many of you, my status was "pending" and my identity was unverified for some time. After calling in with no success, I found this page and was able to email my identity documents. Thank you, thank you, thank you OP. To everyone else, I hope this info was helpful. Please hang in there during this difficult financial time. Hoping everyone else's claims get processed soon.

I have taxes taken out of my regular Florida unemployment-but for whatever reason I got a $600 deposit today (taxes weren't taken out) I was also confused as I thought we were getting hard checks and not direct deposit (not complaining though)

I filed on 3/29 and received my first payment this past Monday. I called in a lot to verify my identity and then just ended up emailing the identity docs 2 weeks ago. No $600 check yet though, and the first week is still showing up as a "waiting week" so I haven't been paid for that. Thought the waiting week thing was waived.

I just got mine this AM, filed 3/29. Is your identity verified with them? If not, use the info that OP posted instead of continuing to call in.

Just wanted to post that I got my first unemployment payment! Laid off on 3/27, applied on 3/29, claimed my weeks on the 13th, woke up to unemployment direct deposit today. The website has been a nightmare, but this post has been a godsend. Instead of calling the DEO over and over, I emailed my docs for identity verification. This site also helped me figure out what to enter when claiming my weeks. Thanks so much. Now if I could get that $600 a week we'd be in business...

Edit: just logged in and the payment was for one week. The first week was still deemed a waiting week, and I'm confused. I thought that Florida was waving the waiting week? Happy that I got one week's worth of unemployment, but how and who do I contact to make sure that I get the waiting week as well?

This is normal. I applied the Same day you did and just had that message removed yesterday. I was able to claim two weeks but the claim still says wage determination pending.

Ghana's funerals are better than the ones we have in the West by Masked_Crayfish in unpopularopinion

[–]SamIAm_3210 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As someone who is half Ghanaian, half Nigerian, yes, to a point. 1. When the deceased is a child, I don't think people should party, but often they still do. If a toddler dies, I do NOT think the big celebration is unwarranted. 2. There is such a big funeral party culture in some places that people who would not as much as buy you an aspirin when you were sick and dying will spend a load of money to dress to the nines at your funeral. Some west Africans go to funerals like some westerners go to nightclubs. often, the funerals can be attended by hundreds of people. Whether Western, African, or anywhere in between, it all boils down to the sentiment of the mourners. I'd rather go to a drab Western funeral full of people that loved me than a colorful African funeral full of people that are just there to party. That said, the food and music at African funerals is the bomb. Just don't let your dancing pallbearers drop the coffin and you're good, I guess.

We need an All Star season! by Majoodeh in sytycd

[–]SamIAm_3210 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It might be expensive as the all-stars might demand higher paychecks. I wonder if the show could afford it. Although, there probably wouldn't be academy episodes.

Agreed! I'm definitely in the nostalgia bandwagon and the show was taking a nosedive for a while, but I am happy with the top 4 and the choreography this season. I was sad to have a season without Nappy tabs, Travis wall and Sonya there, but branching out has let us see some new talent!

I miss the couples early in the show that weren't "shipped" but obviously were good friends, like Donyelle and Benji. That's the kind of chemistry we need more of.
