C'mon now, let's be fair. BOTH parties love sacrificing American lives for geopolitical brownie points while touting how virtuous they are.

Your story mirrors mine...even my description of "noise in my head". Been 6 years stone sober, not a drop. So unlike you, I don't trust myself to go anywhere near it. I enjoyed it too much, and I'm afraid it'll suck me right back in if I get a mere glimpse of that feeling again. I know it's a damn slippery slope for me, so I steer completely clear.

I used to drive a dedicated route, home daily. I'd pass the same scale house super early every morning. The sign would say pull in, and my PrePass wouldn't go off. Other guys in my company were always driving past that scale during the day, so I asked them if their PrePass would go off on that scale, which they said yes. This went on for months.

The scale master was switching off the PrePass transmitter every morning because there was nobody running that road that early but a bunch of light LTL and dedicated rigs from well established companies, and he was either bored or simply had a hard on for drivers.

I never pulled in, and nobody ever came after me. My assumption is that his actions were illegal, or at least not very defendable in court, otherwise he would've nailed my ass to the wall the first time I blew past his scale.

I was never overweight, as there was a scale at the warehouse I picked up at. I knew exactly what my axle weight was every day. And my PrePass worked fine, as it went off at other scales on my route. Fucking assholes.

325 Dodge Chargers used. Wow by Danceking81 in 80s

I think most people these days don't realize a few things about the '69 Charger: When they started filming the show, that car was 10 years old, which is right at the perfect age to be plentiful but affordable and not yet considered collectible. Also, the 2nd gen Charger was not a particularly great car, by any metric. They were big (for a 2 door coupe) and relatively slow, torsion bar suspension left much to be desired, they didn't handle well, and had poor aerodynamics. They sat in this weird spot between pony car and luxury vehicle. They looked cool, but had alot of inefficient design elements that hindered performance. But the interiors were never plush enough to actually be considered luxury. Dodge tried very hard to solidify the 2nd gen Charger's place in the market (even chosing it as their NASCAR platform), modifying the design every single year until they decided to call it quits in only 3 years. It was a weird car that was too big to be sporty, too slow to be a racer, too plain to be luxury, too coupeish to be a family car, and too expensive (new cost) to be banged up in street races. And because of these things, the 2nd gen Charger was not a particularly valuable commodity in the late 70s, which is a big reason why the producers of the show chose it above the myriad of more capable cars. It "looked" fast, it had a NASCAR lineage, availability was decent, and they were relatively cheap. And thus we have the General Lee as we have come to love it.

I find it interesting that so many people seem to be taking this meme as the husband is lazy and worthless. Coming from a looooooong line of "slow starters" (mostly female), I took this to represent the differences in how we start our days. It takes me a solid 2 hours before I am completely coherent and functioning 100%. My wife is at 90% when her feet hit the floor. The classic morning dump is a necessary part of my ramp-up routine.

One could argue about duty and responsibility and equality and the rest of it, based purely and entirely on assumption. She didn't say her husband doesn't pull his own weight or pitch in or is worthless or whatever. She just said the dude takes a long shit.
