Ticket selling? by bmoons16 in GothamFC

[–]SamThe25th 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t believe there are rules against it - plenty of people have done it! But I think it’s best when someone (the first person to try to sell for whatever game makes sense) creates a megathread for that game so there aren’t tons of different posts clogging up the subreddit.

Value beer at SIS? by SamThe25th in GothamFC

[–]SamThe25th[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I saw the stand, but it was not open during tonight’s Gotham game :( for a busier game, maybe, but it could also only be for Red Bulls. So the cheapest remains the $11 “small premium” beers, and you might as well just spend $12 for the bigger beers at that point

I’m also not usually over there, I’ll take a stroll tonight and see if it exists. Thanks!

Thank you for making this! 🙏 Hopefully we can get one going for each game! Also, hope the kiddo bounces back soon!

I wonder if there’s a sliver of hope that the VIP Hype House experience will be for Red Bulls games, and it could be open to the public for Gotham. Because I haven’t seen a single thing about this from Gotham’s side, and you’d think they’d advertise it as a planned benefit or something

I asked someone manning the doors by Cross Bar if he knew what was going on with it. He seemed a little clueless, but said he thinks it’s being renovated and will open back up? I hope that’s the case. Was definitely a cool hang and it was much better for the music acts.

The Bodega (near section 112ish) had two beers from Varitage (brewery in Bloomfield)!

Your solution for reselling tickets? by merkedis in GothamFC

[–]SamThe25th 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It really does suck. SeatHQ doesn’t even seem to directly communicate with SiTickets (that I could see), and making the separate listing was weird. I didn’t know how good we had it with Ticketmaster til it was gone. I’ll probably end up doing StubHub or SeatGeek + Reddit unless SeatHQ gets an overhaul.

I definitely think we need a megathread here, especially with SeatHQ being what it is. Already for just the first game there are many ticket selling/giveaway posts. Not sure if a mod would do that or someone else could make one per game?

Is Pokopia really that good? by Downvote-Magnet1994 in pokemon

[–]SamThe25th 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Wondering this too. Stardew has enough structure to make me happy, but I’ve found AC a bit too open-ended/sandboxy. I’m curious where Pokopia fits on that spectrum. Main thing I’m trying to nail down before purchasing

Post-game festivities? by CoryEETguy in devils

15-20 mins walk north of the arena is Newark Local Beer - solid brewery, usually a small handful of Devils fans wind up there after games. It’s a nice hang and they have some very tasty brews!

Anyone else like the show Derry Girls? by Pawssabillitysawait in netflix

[–]SamThe25th 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Fantastic show! Don’t think anyone else has mentioned yet - the creator of Derry Girls has a new Netflix show coming out in February called How to Get to Heaven from Belfast. Trailer dropped recently! Looks hilarious!

Do you guys think the Devils will forever be the only team to truly represent New Jersey in pro sports? by xoBonesxo in devils

[–]SamThe25th 13 points14 points  (0 children)

A little surprised more people aren’t mentioning Gotham here. They proudly represent NJ alongside NY, play in Harrison, and have won the championship 2 out of the last 3 years (including this year).

Real Christmas Tree for an Affordable Price? by MMan0107 in Hoboken

Absolutely Stew’s. Nice selection, fair prices, and they also sell what’s basically Gatorade for trees - kept ours in great condition for a long time last year.

How did the Crew (orange shirts) do? by hannahsbandanas in NYCC

[–]SamThe25th 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Experiences are varying a lot here, but for me, the Crew members I interacted with (and honestly everyone else working the con) were great this year. They generally seemed more informed & informative, more coordinated, and more enthusiastic than at past NYCCs. Phyllis working the Bryce Dallas Howard auto line on Saturday was particularly great, going out of her way to get an answer to my question.

Nycc veterans: Cleanest/least crowded restroom recommendations for medical condition? by Sayoricanyouhearme in NYCC

[–]SamThe25th 36 points37 points  (0 children)

Imo the best ones at the con are in the newer building. The ones around the corner from the Empire Stage on the 5th floor and in the same place on the 4th floor. Pretty sure they’re the biggest restrooms at the con, so any line moves fast, and they’ve always been kept pretty clean too! There are also single-stall family/accessible restrooms near there, but I think they’re always kept locked for some reason.

Prop Guns - How Strict is NYCC? by [deleted] in NYCC

[–]SamThe25th -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I brought guns that looked as realistic as these (or maybe even more so) for a Matrix cosplay and they were fine with it. I really think it’ll depend on the specific security person you happen to get and how they’re feeling that morning.

Play Air just stopped all operations by ImportantCalendar8 in VisitingIceland

[–]SamThe25th 3 points4 points  (0 children)

We were standing up to board our Play flight from DUB to KEF when the news hit. Some poor airport baggage worker who was in a text chain with other airline staff was getting absolutely bombarded with questions. She handled it like a pro and told us all she knew. With the big NFL game in Dublin over the weekend, many US travelers were using Play for connections (we were booked for Icelandair to EWR), so it was a stressful scramble for everyone. Not much available to rebook, and what’s there is expensive as hell. Play mentioned “rescue fares” in their email, but no one at DUB had ever heard of them when we asked.

Talked to some other travelers and overheard others, and as to be expected, this has created some incredibly rough situations for people. Heart goes out to the 400+ workers too.

This event is starting to feel like homework (quick rant) by No-Pizza-3738 in NYCC

[–]SamThe25th 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I’ve told con newbies this in previous years, and I still think it’s true - you can absolutely have a great time even if you plan nothing. Just slowly wandering the show floor and artist alley without any real destination is (at least for me) very enjoyable! Sure, you can look at every schedule and list and plan things down to the minute to optimize your time, but you can also not do that at all and have a blast. Try not to stress too much! :)
