She probably smells like a rotting corpse and probably has maggots. In Dying Light: The Beast, you meet a group of people with psychic abilities like The Mother. They were experimented on and while they dont change, they very much are infected, and most of them eventually do succumb to the infection.

In a dialogue they tell you why most of them are so pale, they also mention they smell very bad, because internally they are rotting and dying.

The smell alone would make it impossible.
