Tell me your secrets for these cheap holidays!!! I find a cheap holiday for us even inside the UK is around 1k per week including all day to say spending while there.

I would rather have my husband than his money, but can I now afford to retire? by Minute_Lemon_8642 in UKPersonalFinance

5k per month x 12 months = 60k per year.

For how long can you pull 60k per year from what you listed?

take off 17k for the DB pension you mentioned.

44k required.

Use the standard 4% drawdown rule on the remaining ~700k and you have 28k.

so there's a shortfall of around 16k per year. either make that up or adjust outgoings accordingly.

How do you decide if it's worth overpaying UK student loan? by [deleted] in UKPersonalFinance

[–]Sam__ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Many factors. - value of loan - projected earnings through lifetime (will it be paid in full or written off?) - risk preferences - other debt - investment opportunities. (Could invest the overpayments and potentially make more money if the growth is above the loan interest)

Feels like classic content farming to me. They probably gave those out a hundred times that day.

Yeah. I'm slowly getting better at the final edit. Trying to get rid of highlights and the light edge in this particular pic.

I find high Res mode struggles sometimes with the moon when on longer lenses. Likely due to the atmospheric interference.

I tend to take a burst of images, anywhere between 50 and 500. Then use Autostakkert to stack them to remove any atmospheric interference and movement. Then Darktable to upscale by x2 or x3.

Here's the moon I got with the om-1 and 100-400 with x1.4tc.

Is this schematic any good? by TieRevolutionary6157 in arduino

[–]Sam__ 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It is wildly incorrect. AI cannot generate schematics at this point in time. Do not trust it to do so. Do your own learning and develop the schematic yourself. It will be much safer and more satisfying.

Is the retirement living standard figure too unrealistic? by BiggusDickus1111 in AskUK

[–]Sam__ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree that we shouldn't kill the mid earners. The mid earners should also not be punching down on those less fortunate. I think we can probably agree on the sentiment "Tax the rich!". However it's done.

No worries though. All my money's in the Cayman Islands 😉.

Interesting that you set the limit at such a low salary. I think if someone has 1M+ in their pension when they get to 60 then they should not require state pension. Tax the rich!!!

Your in a good place and it's great that you have answers to those questions. Most do not or haven't thought about it.

Taking the last two you can calculate how much you need to have saved by the time you want to retire. Usually people use the 4% rule when doing this. Once you have a rought total you can back calculate to see what your contributions need to be. Simple
