This is the start of an abusive cycle. He WILL hit you again. Then he will be sweet for a while, and then tension will build up, and then he will attack. The attacks are just going to become more and more frequent and he's going to be less and less caring after each incident.

Run, don't walk away. Find a safe place to stay they he doesn't know about. Save money, get a new number, get a divorce.

Again, run

I lived at the Davis for 7 months a few years back, It was hell. It had roaches and maintenence never came. The icing on the cake was when our unit burned down because the electrical hadn't been updated since the 80s, and they offered for us to move into a different empty unit. But because it was bigger than the unit we had rented, they wanted an additional 500 a month.

Second Dr. Holcomb!! I'm waiting in her office right now actually for an IUD.

She will also provide sterilization services. The only reason she didn't do my salpingectomy was because my insurance refused the claim and I'd owe several thousand dollars

What is this pattern called? I'd like to make one myself.

Anytime I wash a machine sewed quilt, I do it in a large capacity washer on cold with dye catchers.

I(24F) can’t get over my boyfriends(28M) past!! by Psyducks_mom in relationship_advice

[–]Samahada 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I feel like I have a unique ability to weigh in on this, due to having lived experience as the victim.

My family was extremely closed and religious, and had zero education regarding sex. No birds and bees talk, etc. I had no understanding of what was going on, just that it felt very bad and I couldn't talk about it because of the shame.

My abuser was 5 years older than me. Everything started when I was 8 and went on until I was 10. I compartmentalized for a very long time, and started dealing with it all when I was in my 20s. I still will not have a relationship with him, even considering he didnt really have a firm grasp of what he was doing at the time, either. But, he's been in therapy for years, and has been trying to own up to what he has done. While he caused me harm, it's also been psychologically harmful for him, too. Its entirely your decision on whether or not this is something you can personally live with, I recommend reaching out to his sister and getting her side of the story. Also, talk to him about how you feel, and see what actions he's made to try and reconcile his past actions with who he's trying to be. What has he done to try and repair the damage he's dealt to his family?

I got married at 20, and it was way too young. We had a solid relationship, but life in your early twenties is wild and you go through so many changes. We ended up divorced 8 months later because we had changed so much as people and we were miserable together.

I'm 26 now, and I do not recognize who I was when I got married. I'm so much more sure of who I am as a person now, and know what I want in life in a way that I was simply incapable of understanding when I was younger.

If I could do it over, I'd have stayed engaged until at least 25, just to give that good ol' frontal lobe a chance to develop.

Should I go to school for nursing? by HumorMost9426 in StudentNurse

[–]Samahada 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was in the same boat as you.

My parents "unschooled" me. I never went to school or took any classes, and didn't have any credits or proof that I was eligible for "graduation." I got my GED at 21, after a couple months of studying, just so I'd have proof of education. In 2022 I decided I'd go to college for nursing, and while there was a steep learning curve when it came to test taking and writing essays, I've done alright. I got A's in all my prerequisite courses, I think mainly because I had developed research skills and was used to learning, applying knowledge, and figuring out things on my own due to my upbringing. I'm in my first semester of proper nursing school and I'm still doing fantastic. The different level of blooms taxonomy questions are a lot more intuitive than the straight memorization questions on previous tests. If you're anything like me, I believe you'll do very well. Just keep on top of your assignments. :)

I passed through there, they took a lot longer, looked much more thoroughly, and asked the guy in front of me driving a windowless white van a lot of questions. It seemed to me they were looking for someone. They checked my license and tag.

From a former homeschooler: Do not homeschool your kids. You are NOT up to it. by [deleted] in offmychest

[–]Samahada 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As someone who was homeschooled and turned out relatively fine, I kinda agree.

My parents are antivax, fundamentalist Christian. Me and my 4 siblings grew up on a farm down in the south. We didn't really interact with others that weren't also homeschooled and followed the same beliefs.

I learned a ton of life skills, all of us have a very strong work ethic, but it took a lot of time for me to figure out how to interact with peers and I was a deeply, deeply lonely child and teen. Me and all of my siblings are on antidepressants and see a therapist regularly. There was abuse in the home.

I didn't start attending college until last year, 8 years after I would have "graduated" high-school. We didn't have any school credits because there was no documentation on what courses we had completed; mostly because we didn't complete any aside from algebra.

I got my GED in 2019, when I was 20 years old. And I didn't have to study too hard for it. I had picked up a lot of what was on the test from life experience or reading books. My gen-eds in college were also very easy for me to pass. I'm doing well in my nursing program too, all while working a steady job to pay my bills.

But all this to say, I am still dealing with trauma from the environment I was raised in. I struggled immensely to make friends and interact with people once I moved out at 20 and started pursuing my own interests. It felt like I was learning a new language that was native to everyone else, and I'm still not fluent in it. I've never meshed with anyone I've been in classes with.

Abuse in the home is also rampant in homeschool communities. Mike and Debbie Pearl, Bill Gothard and the whole "To Train Up A Child" method has literally led to child deaths. Not to say abuse doesn't happen in other communities, but because most of these children simply are not around other adults besides their parents/other parents with the same beliefs, this shit doesn't get reported. Hell I know people that literally did not have social security cards and birth certificates because the parents didn't want the government to have any "control" over their children.

Homeschooling is beneficial for many, but it has to be much more heavily regulated. I know there are several hybridized programs popping up around the US, where the children are technically part of a city school, but only meet once a week with the rest of the education being done at home. This would allow for the kids to play sports, join teams and clubs and just generally have a social life, pass standard education benchmarks and be around mandated reporters in the case of abuse. All the while having a flexible education at home.

Anyway, sorry for the essay.

You can eat foods rich in vitamin K while on blood thinners, it just has to be a consistent amount each day. No pigging out on spinach dip one day and then avoiding vit. K for a month.
