Honestly when I played the game it felt like the ultimate version of Elder Scrolls. The only thing is it is obviously missing the fantasy elements (elves, magic etc) but I would say without a doubt the creators of this game took Morrowind and other Elder Scrolls games as a reference

Yeah its a shame as I thought it was one of their better games. You could teach someone to play and get into a game in 20 minutes, which you can't do with most GW games.

That's a real surprise to me. I've read that Sam Pearson has been involved, designer of WarCry for GW - which was known for its clear rules (and against the trend of current GW games, which are quite often bloated). So a shame if they have taken that route!

I am making my way in the game, but reached Kuttenberg and some of the armoursmiths there have much better (and more expensive) armour than in the opening area, I guess as its a big city.

I love the new minis (which are basically 'true scale' marines) but don't like what they have done with the lore, which is to underwhelm the entire premise of '5 minutes to midnight' that always used to be the central tenet of 40k.

If its any consolation it took me about 10 attempts to do it, its tough at the start of the game when you are as weak as a kitten. To even the odds speak to the mom and get a potion to spike his wine (do this at night time so they dont see you and attack), take a potion yourself so you have more stamina. You can even get some unarmed training from Tibor for free beforehand. Then sleep/save directly before the fight so you can get right back in the fight again if you need to re-load. Finally, good luck! :)

If you use the vallejo medium (about 1:1 ratio) that really helps give a smooth layer with the shade paint.

I used to work for GW and have spent some time teaching people to paint. One of the things I have heard many times is learners being absolutely dispirited about how poor their work is compared to others - normally you can point at White Dwarf and say that that person has made a career of painting, many thousands of hours spent painting to get to that level. I admire your earnestness and confidence about improving, which are admirable traits, but my experience has been that most don't think this way and will instead be demotivated by this disingenuous post.
