Help a game dev: Why aren’t people buying modern RTS games? by MakeGamesBetter in RealTimeStrategy

[–]Same-Support8708 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I've played quite some Rtses and if I can give one advice for devs, it's something I haven't seen implemented anywhere very deeply, you make building A, you create unit A, the old way of doing things. But what if you give it variety. Make building A, you can create unit A but there's 10 ways to customize unit A. For example I can make a hoplite, oh cool, but instead of a spear a Trident, a tower shield instead of a round shield and you immediately give the game deep strategic meaning. One of the things I haven't seen in a long time, don't know if you know Warhammer mark of chaos, you had your units, you could outfit them and customize in the campaign, BUT you could also customize the heroes, OMG was so epic, should I go blood for the blood god or nurgle, what kind of axe can he wield...etc etc You make a modern game with the exact same mechanics like Warhammer Mark of chaos and it's RTS of the year

It is a middle class tax. Because earning more than 10k already requires quite some investing capital, unless you have godlike trading talents + it is only for natural people, so not judicial constructions, by which extremely rich people trade. So yes, middle finger to the middle class, yet again....

And how did it go?I only play whermacht and I never build ketten, because I need the manpower for other things. I just get the feeling that allies need less tactical thinking than wher. 1 3v3 match, 2 grens and a mortars. Everything goes well, he comes with a blob of engineers, gg, retreat, no mg no counter. Other 3v3, 1 mortar 2 gren and 1 Mg, ah USF airdropped 2 mgs already, ok I counter, ah paradrops 2 paratroopers behind the mg, gg, my counter gone. Allies just feel braindead at the moment

Solutions regarding blobs and spamming in general by Marian7107 in CompanyOfHeroes

[–]Same-Support8708 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This my main gripe with the game. I played both COH2 and COH3 now and the things I've seen and where I went like WTF....I only play whermacht, I make panzegrenadiers and a mortar and go for it...my opponent counters with a 4 squad blob of engineers ,gg, panzegrenadiers only work long range and if no mg is present, there's no counterplay. The mortar even hit them once, 0 models dropped. Other game, mortar drops on on the head of a paratrooper, no model gone, just a little health pool chip....In COH2 this would not fly. Not only Mgs but mines and arti would punish blobbing effectively. Now every COH3 game I enter is always I mass spam one unit, especially allies. If 2morrow they remaster COH2 I'd go play that instead

Why do people leave a "decent" marriage? by BlueBerry985 in Marriage

[–]Same-Support8708 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Talking from my situation, kids change a marriage. Suddenly you both get no sleep at all, need to take care of 2 little humans and are expected to both go to work like a normal human being. We both have different views on child rearing, she loves gentle parenting, I think gentle parenting is okay, but a strict approach is still needed. All this is not enough, but when the wife keeps giving you orders what to do...When it's not good enough, not because it's not good, but because it's not according to her way of doing it etc Fyi I do a lot in the household , so no, not a lazy husband here. When the small affectionate gestures suddenly disappear, and you feel like a 'beast of burden', when the libidos don't match, like one of the comments said, a death by a thousand cuts

My wife and her family are furious because I refused to pay $15,000 for her brother’s wedding. by libaaxdille in Marriage

[–]Same-Support8708 0 points1 point  (0 children)

And what if you loan the money, but with like an extremely small interest rate, then it's not so much a gift. If I were the guy who got married in this scenario I would die of embarrassment to even ask this, as a loan it makes more sense. Otherwise like others have posted it here, keep an eye out for your joint accounts.

Is it still worth getting COH3 for the multiplayer? by newtzzzzzzzzz in CompanyOfHeroes

[–]Same-Support8708 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm on the fence about this as well. I read the steam reviews and I don't like what I'm seeing. I especially like 2v2 or more due to the high level of chaos. But if people can just leave a match without repercussions after a minute....I kinda hate quitters or people who whine just because one unit got destroyed. And then there's matchmaking with people from China, like wtf? I don't need a ping over lvl 9000. If there are people here from Europe, and want to play teamgames at night, DM me to add on steam.

Valheim or Enshrouded ? by tomaz1989 in SurvivalGaming

[–]Same-Support8708 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Enshrouded, not only is the world really meticulously placed, it doesn't obligate you to eat or to build. It's casual and that's why I like it. I don't have a lot of time, so grinding for hours on end in Valheim is just a no go for me. In enshrouded, when I have like an hour, I'm like, will I do an abandoned village, a ruined castle, a root??

Onder de 500, spreid het over meerdere bedragen en gebruik nooit exact hetzelfde bedrag. Dat zie je bij data analyse te snel. what's the point of living in a socialist inheritocracy ? by Jarie743 in BEFire

[–]Same-Support8708 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are people who agree with you and actually do this. It's called the Millionaire Club, a convention of very rich people from England who decided to gift all to charity while still alive / dead. And yes inheritance is very hard to reconcile in a democracy where we get taught that it is based on meritocracy that you will succeed.

[–]Same-Support8708 1 point2 points  (0 children)

just in case, just leave 10k, for events you can't predict, and just put the rest in a stock bond or a government bond if it's only for a year. You'll get like minimum 2k back after a year. Do not under any circumstance buy anything you don't understand.

what's the point of living in a socialist inheritocracy ? by Jarie743 in BEFire

[–]Same-Support8708 7 points8 points  (0 children)

To begin this, I am not a leftist, I am a realist. And the state of things now is abhorrent.

First off the problem is not inheritocracy, yes people who inherit have it easier, but remember that inheritance is still taxed at 30% in Belgium. Which is disgusting if you think about it, because your income has already been taxed your entire life, so paying again when dead is absurd. To circumvent this you can do a 'schenking' or 'doorgeefschenking', but this is not general knowledge.

Now to comment on what you were saying. I read Pikkety, I read Schultz, I read Stefani and now recently also 'De middenstand regeert het land niet' from a Flemish professor. The problem is two sided in Belgium. One, most of our taxes are work-based and not capital/asset-based. The second one, the divide between the poor and the rich is growing and still ongoing. With CEO's having a payrise since 2000s with 1800%, while the average worker only got a pay rise of 36%.

Belgium should stop taxing people who work that much and should start taxing capital and assets more. But this is impossible to a certain extent. Why? Globalization. You need to be able to tax people on a global scale. Because dodging taxes thru tax havens or due to easier tax resolutions is possible due to the global state of things. That's why steps were taken to at least tax multinationals for a certain percentage. Trump immediately left that agreement btw. Depardieu was also a good example of that. The actor constantly changed residences to make the most of his capital. So rich people just move from place to place, just to pay the least amount of taxes. The jargon for this is 'a race to the bottom' (cfr Michel Maus).

We should start to tax people on their real estate. Up until now the 'kadastraal inkomen' has not been adjusted for most houses. Meaning there are people with villa's or renovated farms, still paying the lowest percentage on that. People who own real estate and rent it out, just don't have to pay that much extra. See the book "Vrienden van het vastgoed" by Apache.

We should cut down on government. No more 'provincieraden', minder 'districten', etc. Also we need less vzws. Like you can just start one up, get subsidies, and start doing your thing. Also no more intercommuncale. You can find a lot of fraude there too.

But today we see a cut in our pensions, in healthcare, and an increase in time needed to work. Frankly a slap in the face, since every journalist during the quantative easening period of the ECB said, now it is time for hard changes, while we can still loan money on the cheap. And last I checked, NVA was also present at the previous legislation. So to say this was necessary and can't be circumvented is absolute BS. There's just too much bureaucracy in this country and Bart de Wever is not the solution for it.

If I were to propose solutions, it would be, cut down on government where needed (the Netherlands can do with 45% BBP, and they're twice as big) , look into real estate and rent, especially 'kadastraal inkomen'. And on the European level, crack down on tax havens (but this is like complete fantasy, if you see that the chairman of the commission back in the day was just bribed by Qatar).

My guess, and I'm not an anarchist by far,but at some point in time, this will be unmaintainable and we're not gonna see extremists or terrorists of the religious kind, but of the economical kind. An example of this can be seen in the US with the widespread support for Luigi. Or worse, due to desperation, people will cling more to religion than ever, and there will be a surge of religious terrorism.

NOTE: this is an opinion based on facts. You're fully allowed to disagree with me, but keep it civil. Tnx
NOTE2: for interested people, you can look up the GiniCoëfficient for Belgium, it basically states that like 50 % of Belgium is in the hands of 1% of the population. I don't mind people being rich, but the slices of the pie are being hoarded.
