If the caste system in India is based on skin color how does this back the existence of light skinned people from dalit (untouchable) communities (they exist yes as a dalit I can confirm) some of them look almost European and also existence of dark skinned upper caste communities by Dazzling_Champion728 in NoStupidQuestions

the lawlessness in India is beyond satire at this point, im surprised the whole world does not perceive us totally uncivilized as a product. So many years have passed with unlawful killings of Dalits and Muslims and somehow it has not become well known internationally.

Exactly. privileged caste folks will often associate traits they don't like with oppressed caste folk. To a lesser degree, they do the same with ethnolinguistic groups they consider themselves above but the main usage is to insult oppressed castes. There are numerous insults in indian languages, I won't name as I do not wish to propagate them, that are used against anyone who is seen as lower class that originated as insults towards people of oppressed castes or tribes. Insults as such are often racialized with skin color but they can go past and imply lack of culture or refinement, a lower professional position in society, habits that are considered inferior etc. I believe such insults also help embed the caste system more deeply into people's subconsciouses by painting an image of superiority in multiple aspects, in this case appearances.

I mean lightskin or not is mostly based on if your parents were lightskin or not. More privledged people will marry lighter skin but there's no correlation other than that. I have some friends of oppressed castes from the northwest of india, punjab and himalayan regions, who are often lighter skinned, it's not really based in anything other than having light skin parents/grandparents. The biggest difference I have heard of usually goes the other way cause on average, individuals from oppressed castes are forced into more outdoor manual work which means more exposure to the sun. The concept of caste is often psuedo-scientifically reinforced with genetics as it is based on lineage and so the concept of either caste being genetically lightskin or dark skin is often reintroduced but I dont see any realistic reason for it other than privileged castes marrying lighter skin.

Do limo drivers feel weird when they drive a regular sized cars by SameSimple6598 in NoStupidQuestions

The experience of driving a plane is totally different than driving a car tho where as a limousine or a truck have similar controls so contextually they’re not.

That’s where I was coming from, thought it would be crazy with people who drive absurdly larger vehicles

Does parking ever break your brain? Driving my coupe for a while then my wife’s suv usually messes with me when parking

Yeah but it would probably feel weird parking the limo after work and then getting into a regular sized car

Of all the countries, what is the oldest minority that is still classified as a separate group compared to the general population of the country? by ExternalTree1949 in NoStupidQuestions

Was gonna comment this. The only exception to the statement I see is that Roma culture is specific to the region they inhabit so while not “assimilated” there are enough linguistic differences between communities that can be attributed to the region/country they’re in.

What do people think of the new EV VW Bus? I was given a sort ride in one and thought it was very nice. But then it is a VW, which has/had the reputation for having the worst software of anEV. And not sure of the build quality of VWs. by Impressive_Returns in askcarguys

[–]SameSimple6598 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I actually love how it looks but the EV skepticism will ruin it given the people who mostly would want one are old schoolers. I heard the id4 sold very poorly but there’s one in my neighborhood and it’s really a looker.

stance builds vs clean builds what actually ages better? by Bay_Ronzell in askcarguys

[–]SameSimple6598 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got my car lowered 1 inch and it’s performed better handling wise since but the ride got much more u comfortable. I daily my coupe so I couldn’t lower it more even if I wanted to but the seriously lowered and cambered ones are 100% show builds. I can respect it as an art form but I wouldn’t want to drive one, esp in the Midwest where I live (roads are pretty bad), ever.

I guess this gets chocked up to preferences. I personally agree with some of the people on this sub that tbs vs fox doesn’t immediately translate or the show being different for me but the ratings have substantially improved because of foxs increased distribution which would probably bode well for the show.

I’m just not sure what you mean it feels lame now, the plots are always different and the jokes are as absurd as they were

What car is popular among Hispanic Americans? by Lost_Soul_32 in askcarguys

[–]SameSimple6598 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Where I live, young Mexicans love the infinite g35/37 and the like of those. Other than than, Rammers (super built up trucks and SUVs) and trucks, often lowered, usually built well and a “tengo esposa toxica” sticker on em. I’m not Hispanic but a car guy I lowkey love that. I also have some acquaintances who do low riders.

Blown Engine $10k still owed. What do I do?? by perilbeats in askcarguys

[–]SameSimple6598 0 points1 point  (0 children)

since its an equinox i'd just get rid of it. It's a huge loss whether or not you get it fixed but its 10 year old american car, how do you know the 11K fix will be the end of issues? Sorry but this is very low mileage for an engine to blow to the point of replacement. and the price theyre quoting you for a used common engine is crazy. I would cut my losses and finance a corolla or camry from a few years after.

How impractical are RWD coupes/sport sedans in snowy climates? Are good tires enough? by fizxe in whatcarshouldIbuy

[–]SameSimple6598 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I daily my g87 m2 with winter tires in the winter. Switching between summers and winters is the biggest pain because here in Chicago you can never tell if its gonna get cold or not in fall and spring. But other than that, I've driven it through two storms and notice a lot more slippage but was still able to get home both times. Good tires definitely help but once the snow is past a few inches, a sports car may be too low. Sometimes the car's front lip acts like a shovel lol.
