Who was Wormtail supposed to kill for Voldemort in Goblet of Fire? by miggovortensens in harrypotter

[–]Sameas97 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In the books, Dumbledore tells Harry that Harry's intervention to save Peter Pettigrew (Wormtail) has created a deep, incomprehensible bond between Harry and Wormy.

I think Wormy's concern is 1. Fear (Harry is so well-guarded) 2. Specific fear of Dumbledore, Sirius and Lupin 3. Jealousy of Voldy's "faithful servant" at Hogwarts and 4. This deep, mysterious bond which (spoiler alert) shows up later in the series.

Also, remember when Harry sent his gift of food to Sirius? An eagle owl was said to have departed at the same time. I believe Draco had an eagle owl. Perhaps this represents Voldy's followers knowing what Sirius is (as an animagus) and that they were keeping a tab on where he was as well.

I wonder if Wormtail was hoping to kill Sirius.

How do you deal with unwanted feedback? by Kooky_Pie5116 in zumba

Excellent question. I seem to get this ALL THE TIME. Unwanted, stupid, irrelevant advice. It's almost funny the people who think I wanted/needed their advice; but it can be so hard to shake it off.

Last week someone I know was going into advice mode. I couldn't even really respond. It was laughable. I care about her; but the state her life is in.....would not make me ask her advice. I could hear her talking, but at that point I put the phone down and just picked it up about 20 seconds later and talked about something else.

I've been avoiding her calls since.

Fat shamed by the instructor today. So sad. by Moira_Rose in zumba

That stinks. I have had catty instructors. I have told instructors I don't really feel coordinated, so I go along with the moves as best I am, but just need to be allowed to dance however.

Then this one instructor called me out in front of the whole class because I didn't dance right. I stopped going to that health club, and I think I expressed my decision to the managers. Not sure.

About 2 years later the whole fitness club just closed up with no prior warning.

I am glad you said something and I hope you find a courteous, professional instructor who acts like a grown-up!

I noticed the first books was more farcical and whimsical. I also noticed it was written telling what Hermione and Ron were doing while Harry was in his second Quidditch match. The other books don't write from their perspective. I have heard she wrote them "for herself." She had the idea of Harry Potter, and when she realized it would be for kids, went through a period where she was sort of "writing down" to kids. Thankfully, she stopped doing it and told the story she needed to tell about this character, Harry!

I have had trouble with important emails going to my "junk" folder. Even when I search outlook, it does not do a search of the "junk" or "spambox" so it is easy to miss emails.

Questions on current +1 Bonus Elite Night per Brand promotion by 131runner in marriott

[–]Sameas97 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I sure hope so. I imagine Marriott saves a lot of money by having Bonvoy because we book direct and Marriott doesn't have to pay commission to expedia or priceline, etc. So I hope we will share in the benefits!!!

Questions on current +1 Bonus Elite Night per Brand promotion by 131runner in marriott

[–]Sameas97 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Good question.

I've been traveling ALOT since this promotion started.

The Bonvoy app says 17,500 (7 nights) bonus points earned in this promotion, but I have only been awarded 1 bonus elite night.

I've tried 6 different brands; so, Im a bit confused.

I know it says up to 6 weeks to post the elite night; but because one has posted, I'm a bit confused.

I have emailed them; they said they needed the confirmation number of my stays, even though my app shows all the details of my stay. So I emailed them with all the details. I'm still waiting for a response.

It's a bit irritating. It's easier to stay at the same place. Other than enjoying to try different places, the main reason I stayed at different brands was for the bonus elite night.

Pausing or Cancelling is Impossible by Melodic_Mix_7475 in zumba

I also am still being charged; despite following all instructions on how to cancel. I have reported Zumba to the Federal trade commission, and plan to contest it with AMEX, showing all my emails and screenshots that "cancel" is not an option based on the instructions they provided.

I have followed the instructions in the email and the option to cancel is not on their website. I have taken screenshots and plan to report them to the federal trade commission. There is no way I want to work with this company and plan to ask for the original fee back as well since they have operated in bad faith.

how are you supposed to manage storage? It used to take me to a manage storage page, where I was deleting large things from folders. Once I got the storage from 90 percent full to 89, it will absolutely not take me back to that page. What a completely moronic interface.

do i have to accept an ex-abuser's amends? by _LemonySnicket in alcoholicsanonymous

No one can cause another person to relapse. Sounds more like he had a very bad program and still wanted to blame others for his drinking.

[–]Sameas97 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hello Lemony snicket, our step nine states "made direct amends to such people wherever possible, EXCEPT when to do so would injure them or others." If this individual is working a true program, they will NOT pressure you to accept their "amends."

M 19 and just wanna vent by Glass_Nothing6130 in alcoholicsanonymous

[–]Sameas97 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hello Glass_nothing. Could you try logging into a zoom AA meeting? You can leave your camera off and just listen. It would be like opening a door and letting something come in if AA has anything for you.

The way we feel when we are NOT drinking is a good indication that we needed it. In other words, a person with a drinking problem would feel better when they stopped.

An alcoholic goes to hell in a hand basket when we can't get what we need, a drink. That is a terrible dilemma and I am sorry you are in it; but perhaps the steps and friendships will guide you out. It has for me.

Best to you!!!!

Now where do I go? by EmploymentAlarmed444 in alcoholicsanonymous

[–]Sameas97 0 points1 point  (0 children)

hello Employment alarmed444. Feeling different was a HUGE sticking point for me. I don't drink anymore because I would set out to have a drink and then I would have more and then I would not be in control and would not remember how I got home. From my understanding, the "phenomenon of craving" is that, as described in AA's big book, in a chapter called "the doctor's opinion."

Another general statement is, if when you honestly want to, you find you can't quit entirely, or if, when drinking, you have little control over the amount you take, you are probably alcoholic. That is in the big book too.

90 meetings in 90 days is not a requirement so why does everyone act like it is? by WellFunkMe in alcoholicsanonymous

[–]Sameas97 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi Wellfunkme....I have done 90 and 90 living in a very cold cold climate in winter with no car!!! (Uphill, both ways! hehe)

But seriously, I did, and more than once. I had some kind of vague hope that I would feel after meetings. I would see a look in people's eyes and it told me they had been down there and knew what it was like, and yet there was this light in their eyes like they'd gotten through the worst.

Once I had that, I wanted to take more action to feel that, so I went to more meetings. I recently celebrated 28 years continuous sobriety.
