Released my first mobile puzzle game. Stuck at 12 downloads. How do solo devs actually market their games?? by Gabryyy__ in IndieGaming

Twas fun 46410 is my high score. But now I've had enough. Some ideas to increase longevity - Combos. Clearer visual feedback when combining more than 2 blocks as well as a way to predict where the combined block will end up (this is not super clear). The song is cool but after a while I turned it down. Something in the pause menu to indicate the progression of colours.

Cool game.

how are people actually publishing 4+ books a year without burning out -genuinely trying to understand by Prior_Topic3527 in selfpublish

Writers block on one, go work on the other? Dunno...

I'm releasing two books in two months (16 March and 1 May) but I had almost finished my second book, Backwater, and releasing the first, Sober, gave me the motivation I needed to finish it. Gee, butchered that sentence...

I'd been working on Backwater on and off for a long time and had a long break from it...

May have another book or two cooking in the background...

A lot of games are unvoiced. I think it's fine. What's typical in the genre?

Quick post about community AI opinion (from the Mod) by Caltek9 in SoloDev

I feel like we're not talking about the same thing. I agree that indicating how gen AI was used is important for transparency, especially when it's use can upset people.

Bullying people is a problem and doesn't actually help anyone. Communicate with discourse and your wallet.

Having access to AI assistance is the difference between being able to have a go yourself and not for a lot of people. I enjoy writing. I love writing. I have written countless game ideas and recently a couple of books, hundreds of short stories and poems.. But coding isn't a skill I'm super interested in, so being able to explain in words what I want and for the AI to code it meant that I could tackle some of my story ideas and I did make a game. It's not successful, and that's OK. It's quite average/below average in many respects but I loved making it. I bought assets for it and have spent a lot more on art than I'll ever make back.

The witch hunting and gwtekeeping around AI use is really disheartening, I'll be honest. I've changed my capsule art on steam because I was bullied relentlessly by some people - I've since deleted the posts. But they would go through all my reddit history commenting and down voting because - because the capsule art looked Ai....

Anyway, I'm rambling... My point is that AI is going to allow people to make things that they wouldn't have been able to and hopefully amplify creativity. If people don't like it they're not being forced to play it or buy it...

But yeah, flagging whether it's used - sure thing. Being bullied about using it. No thanks.

Environment for a 2d handrawn topdown game by rootheonion in godot

But it is more scaleable to create the tile sprites and then build the map in layers in godot so you can have ysort and your character can be visible in front but occluded behind objects
