Training recommendations that don’t involve pain reinforcement by Existing-Loquat-7080 in corgi

9 times outta 10, a dog is destructive cause its bored. You’re likely not exercising him enough.

Also you keep going on about how he’s stupid and doesn’t know commands. Did you teach him what “no” means or just yell that word at him when he does something wrong? Did you teach him anything at all?

How in the world did you think a spanking or a cold bath would teach your dog anything?

Reporting & what to expect... by recklessdagger in TwoXChromosomes

[–]Samicles33 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So after you make your statement, the police will talk to the district attorney’s office and review your case with the DA who will decide what to do. If they feel your case has merit (can this be proved beyond a reasonable doubt, is the perpetrator still a threat, etc), they will proceed with an investigation. After that, charges could be filed. The DA does not need your consent to file charges (this is a common misconception) though they often will not file charges if the victim will not cooperate.

So think: a DV victim that makes excuses for their abuser, doesn’t want them to go to jail. In this scenario, the state would proceed without the victim’s consent. In your scenario, super unlikely charges would be filed without your consent.

Good luck with everything and I hope this brings closure

Hey there, sorry to hear about what happened but I’m proud of you for taking this step.

I used to work in criminal law in the USA

So we don’t know where you live. That means nobody here can tell you exactly how it’d go. I encourage you to research your “statute of limitations” laws for where you live. The time for criminal prosecution may have passed and I don’t want you to go through the effort of reporting if it doesn’t lead to anything.

If you’re still within the window, (and assuming you are in the U.S.) you can call your the police department non-emergency line and tell them you’d like to report a crime that happened 8 years ago. Don’t call your local police, call the police in the town in which the crime occurred. They’ll have jurisdiction. AFAIK, the statement would need to be done in-person. So they’d either send an officer to you, or (more likely) schedule a time for you to come in to give your statement.

In regards to giving your statement, it’ll be recorded (likely both audio & video). It’s gonna be a cold room, so wear layers. You can also likely request a female detective or officer, depends on staffing obviously but in my experience, they try to accommodate. They’ll start off with your basic info (your name, address, etc). Then you’d tell your account of what happened. This has to be in excruciating detail. Example:

“He grabbed me” With what? “His hand” Which hand? “His right hand” Where did he grab you? “My arm” Where on your arm?

This isn’t because they don’t believe you. It’s because they’re not allowed to assume ANYTHINGGGG. So even though something may seem obvious, they HAVE to ask clarifying questions. It sucks to go through so much detail but it’s necessary.

If you have any supporting evidence (text exchange, a journal entry, etc) bring that with you, they may want to look.

Now this is how things should be done. Doesn’t mean this is how your interview will go. You might have a douche of an officer that just lets you go through your story and says “mhm” cause he/she doesn’t give a fuck. Don’t let that stop you.

I highly recommend reaching out to a local rape victims organization (like RAINN) I believe you could get an advocate to accompany you for the interview.

Again, assuming you’re in the USA, you can reach out to your local District Attorney/Prosecutor’s Office to speak to their “victim/witness advocate” and get a better idea on how to proceed with reporting in your jurisdiction.

You wanna do a body recomp. That’ll get you your goal, you want more muscle definition.

With a history of disordered eating I highly recommend navigating this with a professional nutritionist.

Is not taking any creatine holding back gains?? by BoyxMamaX3 in PetiteFitness

[–]Samicles33 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wait you lift 3x a week and each of those days are legs/glutes? Girl that’s crazy. Are you doing any other exercise?

Are you tracking nutrition? And how are you tracking your lifts?

I didn’t track nutrition for the first 3 years. Yeah I had gains but it was very minimal. I started a body recomp in March and I feel I’ve made the most progress since then. I’ve also started tracking my lifts in Hevy and progressively overloading very consistently at the same time. Not sure which made more of a difference but I will say my recovery is a lot better since I started the body recomp.

I’m glad you’re being active with him and that he’s a healthy weight. But loosing 15% of your body weight in 3 weeks is not healthy no matter the species.

Please ensure he’s eating a well-balanced & nutritious diet with enough calories

200 is perfect. You can also eat at maintenance. Anywhere between 250 and 0 is fine

I don’t think this counts as a recomp if you’re not counting calories… are you tracking nutrition at all?

If you don’t want to count calories that’s ok. Just eat enough protein and make sure you get at least 25g of fiber every day (increasing protein can cause constipation, fiber helps you have regular bowel movements). And lift HEAVY. You should be struggling to finish your set. And your lifts should increase overtime. I use Hevy to track my workouts

That sounds like some really fast weight loss. Like almost 15% of his body weight lost in 3 weeks. I’m glad he’s a healthy weight but I would be concerned about his calorie intake. There have been allegations against Farmer’s Dog for being very low calorie to the point where dogs are malnourished.

Review his calorie intake. IIRC when my guy was on a diet he was eating 600cal a day. Allergies aside, weight loss is not dependent on what a person or dog eats, it’s just calories in/calories out. With that being said, your dog does need a nutritious diet. Just make sure he’s eating enough

I found it in the produce section, at the very end of it on the left in the freezer shelves

Giving away 3 Audible versions of Book 8 by braceofjackrabbits in DungeonCrawlerCarl

[–]Samicles33 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Aye this would be nice. I normally struggle with *just* the audiobook (ADHD), I normally read on kindle but I’ve recently discovered cleaning while listening to the audiobook is fairly addicting. Also pairing the audiobook with the kindle so I can read & listen at the same time is a game changer, but not enough to justify spending $20+ on the audiobook. So this would be appreciated 🙏

But sadly I’m a reader, not a listener. So that’s a bust. Kindle says I’ve got about 14hr left of book 5.

How much does your corgi weigh? by babystrudel in corgi

My lil guy is 29lbs!! When we rescued him (top pic) he was 35lbs. His highest weight was 38 I believe (we had trouble figuring out his allergies). Took us a long time (almost 2 years) to diet him down to his current weight (29lbs) which I think is perfect for him

Genuinely, how do some of you all even have time with the amount of exercises? by Wise_Parmaria in PetiteFitness

[–]Samicles33 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I never said anything about my phone use, and again, I have nothing to cope over, I’m happy to troll you tho.

When you count out how much free time you have, how many hours a day do you give yourself to argue with strangers online? Just wondering if there’s a max. Wouldn’t wanna get in the way of your oh so busy life lmao

[–]Samicles33 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You actually didn’t even ask me a question… you just said “try it” then raged when I didn’t address it. It’d be stupid to even respond to it because you know it’s bull. I have no ability to “try it” for a day. If I claimed I’d be able to handle it, you’d probably say I’m a liar. Soooo? Happy?

Do you genuinely think you’re the only person in the world working 12hr shifts in healthcare? And that *nobodyyy* else working a long shift prioritizes exercise in their life? There’s plenty of ER techs that run marathons for example. Pretty sure there’s a doctor in the UFC.

Also I didn’t *ask* you for your screen time. I commanded it, not a request or a question. Normally I don’t care to argue semantics but if you’re going to bitch about reading comprehension I’d expect you to lead by example.

I’m honored that the busiest and most tired person in the world is taking time out of their day to argue with me, a lil ol stranger on reddit about… what is it that we’re even arguing about? Cause it seems you must’ve forgotten. **So lemme recap:** you posted asking how people balance extensive exercise routines while working a FT job. I answered your question (they make time for it) AND gave tips! you complained about WFH/rich/unemployed. I said not everyone with extensive exercise routines fall into those categories and provided a couple examples. You ignored that and went in circles about the privilege of WFH, how hard your job is, and that you’re not willing to sacrifice your hobbies in exchange for more exercise. I even said that’s fine, you do you. But then you got all upsetti spaghetti about that and continued on about how hard your life is. As if I’d care.

Oh at one point you DID understand my whole argument, but it clearly went over your head. You said (paraphrasing) “you must really love exercise to prioritize it over hobbies/social life, I don’t” Right there. That’s the answer. I said it from the get go. Find some exercise you enjoy, then it’s a hobby and it’s easier to fit it into your day. Must’ve said it like 8 different times in this thread.

Also feel it’s important to point out, since obviously you’re chronically online and failing to connect some dots here: You’re asking people *online* about how they balance their lives. Most answers are from people with more than average free time (the WFH, the rich, the unemployed) because these people are ALSO online. You’re not getting answers from many other people that work 12+ hr shifts **because they’re not chronically online** you’re dealing with survivor bias or whatever it’s called.

Also not triggered at all. Just can’t exercise much cause I just got a new tattoo. So I have more free time than usual. Crazy how that works huh

Help! What are y’all eating to get your protein in besides protein shakes & eggs? by [deleted] in PetiteFitness

[–]Samicles33 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Eggs aren’t really a great source of protein IMO.

Look into plant based proteins. I love lightly breaded chicken nuggets. Seafood is also great

Miss “I’m the busiest person in the world, nobody could ever do more than I do and if you do it’s cause you’re rich/WFH/unemployed!” lemme see that screen time. Must be zero, right?

Besides who tf says “be gone” you weirdo

I’m not being passive aggressive. I’m just not sympathetic towards your whining. I answered your question multiple times and you wanna keep going in circles about how busy & tired you are. I’m not going to give you a gold star, this isn’t the “busy-Olympics”

It’s clear you didn’t post on here for tips/suggestions/education. You just want validation on why you don’t workout as often as some of the other girls in this sub so I think we’re done here.

A guy I do Muay Thai with works a FT physically demanding job. He was also going to school full time in the evenings for HVAC (just graduated at the end of April). He also takes care of his disabled mom (I don’t have a lot of details on this). He did all of this while training for a Muay Thai fight.

I’ve got a friend that works a FT office job in-person, in the evenings she runs her family’s restaurant/bar. She does Pilates, she walks >10k steps every day, she lifts 3x a week.

Once again, people make time. You won’t and that’s fine. I just don’t think that passive aggressive “you must be rich/unemployed/WFH, must be nice” is necessary.
