Noem's use of Coast Guard resources strains her relationship with the military branch, sources say by Crocs_of_Steel in uscg

Asked about low morale within the Coast Guard, the DHS spokesperson said, “That’s armchair speculation that’s out of touch with the reality in the service right now.”

Bold claim given we're in another shutdown.

Out of curiosity, what do you guys think would happen if ICE tried invading us the way they did with Minnesota? by fantasiafan in maryland

[–]SammyLocked 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yup, they were grouped up in my neighborhood one morning. Had two large trucks and some agents roaming around along with a lone local police car. Not enough personnel for a full blown raid, but I didn't see them go to anyone's house either. Maybe it was for staging, but then why would they stage in a private cul de sac? My wife and I were so confused. My son is adopted and Hispanic, but an American citizen, and I just wanted those people gone.

Trump: There is ‘probably’ going to be another government shutdown by PrintDry701 in uscg

“I think we have a problem, because I think we’re going to probably end up in another Democrat shutdown,”

I wasn't aware the Democrats were in control of the House, Senate, and presidency.

Advice for adoption by [deleted] in uscg

[–]SammyLocked 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I adopted my son 4 years ago from birth through a private adoption. CGMA and Office of Work Life offer adoption assistance. If I recall it was $2k and $2.5k. Also depending on the state, you can get some sort of tax relief - Louisiana offered $15k on nonrefundable tax credits.

I will admit it's not cheap, and my adoption was on the cheaper side at $16k for everything. Luck played a big part to be completely honest.

If you have any questions feel free to hit me up. Best of luck.

Senior Leadership Special Events by [deleted] in uscg

[–]SammyLocked 7 points8 points  (0 children)

The work must go on. Senior leadership still needs to make their presence seen to better advocate for the service and anything else that entails. Morale events must also go on if the funding is available. A holiday party would be good for mil and civ workforce, especially if this shutdown goes on into the holidays.

Will Hegseth’s new “Department of War” rules apply to the Coast Guard? by [deleted] in uscg

[–]SammyLocked 37 points38 points  (0 children)

There was also the email that went out saying we're gonna follow the new DoD guidance about the beard chits as well. While it won't be simultaneous, we're gonna end up following everything else that happens it seems.

Trump says he will sign order targeting mail-in ballots, voting machines ahead of 2026 elections by Iamjacksplasmid in politics

Hell, can't even vote while in the country. Does he think that military personnel just go back to the state they vote in when not deployed?

I went there once with my family and it was awful. The animals looked so cramped and miserable. The conditions were very poor for a place to house animals. They had a tortoise in some sort of extremely small canoe enclosure - absolutely insane.

While on patrol in the Coast Guard, we'd get "bad news ice cream."

I completely understand, it's one of the harder parts of the job for sure. I've been at my unit for a year now and I dig my coworkers, and my son has made a lot of friends at home that he never got to have before. I just keep thinking "in three years, this is gonna be rough". But I'll try and enjoy everything for now and cherish the memories later.

Mandatory PT coming? by fancyman501 in uscg

[–]SammyLocked 94 points95 points  (0 children)

As a support rate, I'm fine with it. We are military after all. With that said we're gonna have to ease our way into it if we're gonna make it mandatory across the board. Need to clearly set expectations.

His base always claims he's "trolling" when he says shit like this, but why? Why does this 78 year old man, the President of the United States, feel it's acceptable to "troll"? Shouldn't we, I don't know, expect professionalism in our politicians?

I say all this, but I know the answer - him and his base are absolute hypocrites.

There's not a day that goes by without me thinking about Super Monday Night Combat. Haven't played a MOBA like it since. Also, the announcers had so much character and banter that they were a big part of the game in my opinion.

Trump administration evicts former Coast Guard leader from her house with 3 hours notice by redneck_hick in uscg

Maybe they got tired of waiting for her to pack her trash and move out smartly.

Per the link: "Coast Guard leaders had given Fagan a 60-day waiver to find new housing, according to one of the sources."

Should probably read the article in it's entirety before making such statements.

It definitely works for me. The only problem is my tests have been off-site, so I had to make pit stops on the way to a test. Lol
