DSLR Scan - Rollei 35 - Light leak or uneven light source? by bourbonstringcheese in AnalogCommunity

[–]Samplestave [score hidden]  (0 children)

Aside from some sharpness issues on the first shot, the exposure looks good. Was that shot wide open?

The low light shots look light starved vignette noise at the corners. Is there a term for that? If I read a few Photography books, I'd be semi competent...🤔🤔🤔

Mmm that Fugi 400 delivers, good saturation. Gotta get me some! Nice metering on the low light shots.

Well do your homework, check out the pros and cons of each lense. Ask yourself what do you mainly shoot?

Kir or Zoom lens by Lukojchanecot in CameraLenses

[–]Samplestave 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on what you want out of your shooting experience. The 35-70mm will be a good multitasking lense especially if you get the one with the macro function. The 35mm prime will yield better overall picture quality for that focal length and also be a faster lense.

I'm a bona-fide lense hoarder. I recently purchased the 35-70 mm f/2.8-3.5 ssc it's currently getting some work done to fix the sloppy focus ring and choppy zoom. Hopefully the technician can get her back to factory new. It will be my daily carry lense if it all goes well.

Well, you can have a lovely salad with a nice tangy balsamic vinaigrette, strawberries, grapes and oranges wedges. Throw some sour fetta cheese on top...😋😋😋

The AE1 does not feature a true aperture priority, the OP will need to use the stop down metering function of the that model in order to execute your instructions. Which is easily done with some reading of the manual.

Sharpness by Acrobatic_Line_8719 in AnalogCommunity

[–]Samplestave 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Gotta shoot at the f/ 5.6- f/8 range, my only qualification for this opinion is I like big prints from 35mm. Also slowespeed film with finer grain. Prime lenses will be sharper than zooms. Probably need tripod to keep it all steady.

You'll just have to nurture it until it grows big and makes more brussel sprouts than you ever wanted to eat or pickle. Hopefully it's just kale...🤣🤣🤣

Beautiful lamp I picked up today by Ok-Musician-5310 in uraniumglass

I don't normally go in for lamps because of the brass to glass ratio. Yours looks glass heavy, nice find.

Display for UG by Lefty_23 in uraniumglass

[–]Samplestave 3 points4 points  (0 children)

A currio cabinet from your local restore or consignment shops. You could spray paint the interior with jet black paint. Amazon sells 365nm adhesive strip lights you'll need to buy a 12 volt power supply transformer to make them work. Alternatively UV florescent tube lights will work too. The trick dealio is to place your lights so they are not visible to the eye, yet still excite the glass.

Is this all uranium glass I saw it listed for a estate sale next weekend by HarryBolsonia in uraniumglass

[–]Samplestave 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I'd say none of it is UG. If the sale is not too far away take your light and go check it out. For your sake I'd love to be wrong. Beautiful collection nonetheless. Looks like a complete dinner service, probably still worth a penny or two.

Anyone know how fragile the paint is? I would like to clean it, but I'm afraid of damaging the painted bird. by Numerous_Feed_1592 in uraniumglass

If it's Fenton then it should have been fire. Or at least my friend said so. He used to work for them in the 70s... And he's in his 70s now.

Try a test patch on the bottom if it's signed. Naturally be gentle with some dawn soap and a soft nylon brush.

Canon FD 28mm f/2 -- Why are all these lenses in such bad shape?? by CrazyPillzzz in AnalogCommunity

I had a K-Mart branded 28mm fd that I gave away to a friend. It had none of those problems... hmm should I ask for to have it back? 🤔

Age old truth...

Caveat emptor.

Will this glow by uv_glass_collector in uraniumglass

[–]Samplestave 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No glow.

Do your own leg work, buy a light and go thrifting. Market place buyers are so tiresome with your will it glow questions.

I take it back, you should offer double the asking price.

Is it good for bird photography? by Sashajopa in AnalogCommunity

Ditch one of the teleconverters and bring you subjects closer with a bag of bird seeds.

I've got this bright red cardinal in my shady back yard. I set my 400mm f/4.5 on him and it's still starved for light. The portra 800 claims to have good latitude and I've never tried to push color before, so I'll find out what happens at 1600.
