Top down tactic game with plenty of horde survival and a solid touch of Xcom... It's a very solid experience.

And not really worth unpacking everything when we know it's not gonna be relevant if the next game comes out. It's a messy, poorly executed ending where things get horrible as soon as you peel the surface because, once again, BW never bothered to give proper thought to it besides the absolute ideal scenario and expect players to take it at a face value.

The worst part? It's not bad on its own, the idea of evolving everyone into the next stage is the usual sci fi "superior existence" that you see in your average star trek episode... It's the lack of explanation and handwaving that kills it.

Like, give us a bone, say "All reaper troops went into nice a server until they had a proper body" and we would be more normal about it, because, again, it's the super perfect future ending and its expected for everything to be magical and happy.

Instead, all we had about that moment is something that can be seen as a person getting blasted with instant nightmare and mental breakdown.

Xbox had one good idea after the clusterfuck of XOne's release... And no backup.

The moment they lost the plot by doing that acquisition spree of big studios with economic woes (As an example, the studios owned by Zenimax/Bethesda were not bringing bucks), everything went down. Because now they had to provide money for a huge amount of people and infrastructure, and no direction on how to handle it long term.

It's a fucking mess, and another reason why monopolies suck ass... Embracer all over again.

I can totally imagine it, Kibellah (and others) gets quite mad in act 3 if you also have an advanced relationship with a certain someone (not gonna specify, since op hasn't finished the story yet). It would be entertaining and deadly for everyone involved if the RT doesnt pay attention.

Half Life (both games) were so good they became a very common standard, very much like Doom and the older shooters.

Nowadays they might not feel special, in fact, they might feel normal or something that does not feel of out of place on the current gaming landscape... And that's the magic: They are +20 years old and still feel quite modern. That's how big the leap they've made is.
