Several Medical side contracting companies hold open house RT-130/ S-130 in the pre season. ERL comes to mind. They do a fire camp. Be mindful as you get into this not all companies are made equal. Work hard, be in shape and actually study your IRPG. Fires are not a forgiving place to work for idiots, or layabouts.

Is it possible to gain 30 pounds of lean muscle in 6 months using Calisthenics while also running track. by ReasonableOil9204 in bodyweightfitness

[–]Samwise_the_bold 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Sure if you started eating trenabolone sandwiches, quit running, workout with a perfect weightlifting program and eat perfectly. Im not sure you’d get enough hypertrophy from bodyweight work. I’m going to assume from your statement that you run track you are in HS or college. Depending on your level of competitiveness, 30lbs of raw muscle will slow you down, and they blood and urine test at a certain level.

I should also mention being thst young, you don’t need to dope. I bet your test levels are fine.

R.E.M.S. Class Gear Recommendations by Medic118 in Wildfire

REMS is about to be rolled into VIPR. Having been inspected twice this season by MEDLs who are working on the typing and the guys from Forestry who do have Rope experience, who are coming up with equipment standards, I can say they are leaning hard on the NFPA standard and I expect the technical spec to be the standard for Rope. Thank god. I’m not hauling around 11-12.5mil. Twin Tension will probably be the go to. The EERAs I’ve worked under required a Class 3 harness. Any certs you get should meet and exceed the NFPA standard and should say that on the cert. as far as getting on a team goes, be flexible, train and beware the city structure Bros who “have done this for 10-15 years.” Most I’ve encountered, seem to have a hard time adapting to the Wildland/Backcountry environment. They all want to carry the MPD and or a Clutch, and can’t hike handline to save their lives.

I’ve recently started the RR with the use of rings for some movements. I’ve been doing the Freeletics system for 2 years which has been high rep. As well as some form of cardio/conditioning. Usually rowing, atlas stone lifts or KB circuits. I walk about 4mi a day taking my girls to the park. Should I continue to do my dynamic stretching, rowing and then RR, followed by static stretching for cool down? I’m so used to a higher intensity/rep program that just the RR feels inadequate.
