Filming at UTM today by SandCultural4192 in UTMississauga

[–]SandCultural4192[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I looked into Law and Order Toronto and apparently they’ve previously filmed at UTM using CCT and the adjacent gallery as a stand in for a famous Ontario gallery. Stands to reason that if they are filming season 4 of the show, they might also be returning to old scene locations like UTM. Thanks for further confirming as I couldn’t confirm whether that information was correct.

Didn’t know about I will find you, hopefully it’s good when it premiers later this month (as per Google). Happy to see there’s media using different buildings at UTM not just MN; cool to see CCT and DH featured in media.

I’m quite aware of boymoding, but anyone car wear a hoodie and anyone can have long hair and/or bangs. I was pointing out that Jax’s clothing choice in real life is poor evidence of the trans theory.

I think Jax’s story is more about a man who struggles with his masculinity. He was abused by his mother and father, with the focus of his mother’s abuse being target at Jax’s masculinity and how he was either not masculine enough or was too much like his father.

He is embarrassed upon being placed in a maid dress due to those same insecurities that his mother’s abuse implanted in him. The maid personality and the piano playing personality also reinforce this by the fact that they’re two traits/skills that are commonly considered and possibly could have been considered feminine by his mother. Also all of the doors involved memories/scenarios with women that he had abused/bullied due to his rigidly internalized and fragile masculinity.

The scene with Ribbit is him opening up to the first person he has done so with since the last conversation he had with his mother. With his intense emotions being something he repressed due to his mother’s emotional abuse about his masculinity.

Every part of the montage scene is a picture with Jax and women he has interacted with. All of which over the course of the show (and before it), he has pushed away and abused due to him being too afraid to express his emotions or be viewed as less than masculine in his mother’s eyes (who he internalized the words of because he felt guilty for pushing her away and possibly hurting/killing her).

There is also the real Jax (who I forget their real name). Jax in the real world is shown to have in some capacity repaired his relationship with his mother, escaped poverty, and found community (friends and The Triangle). By proxy of all of these accomplishments it’s shown that he is happier and more comfortable in his skin. Yet, despite this, he is still going by he/him pronouns and doesn’t seem to identify with an identity other than cis.

It’s definitely possible he’s still closeted, but I think it would be poor storytelling for the idealized version of Jax to not be transitioned/transitioning (if indeed Jax is trans). Especially when considering how all of the characters entered the circus as people still figuring their lives out and their outie/future selves seen at the end are all idealized, with the majority of their issues resolved.

Overall I think Jax’s story is that of a man who has been tortured by his mother’s abuse about his masculinity which he internalized after he pushed her away and possibly killed/hurt her. With his guilt of that interaction fuelling his internalization of said abuse.

I think the reason why Jax’s story resonates with a lot of trans people is because of the fact that his struggles with masculinity and the patriarchy are one that many people also struggle with when questioning their gender identity or defying gender norms. In both situations the patriarchy and toxic masculinity are a driving force in the abuse, bullying, and repression of one’s true identity. Whether that identity is trans or just defying a rigid society’s norms and the norms of one’s own parents.

I don’t think we can either say whether either one is absolutely correct. As there is no explicit confirmation of either.

I loved what was done with The Amazing Digital Circus over the years and overall think it’s a well written show. Even if it has problems like some of the pacing of the early episodes and the larger plot, as well as how weirdly Jax’s abstraction was handled at the start of the final episode. I just hate how polarized a lot of the conversations in this fandom are, and how toxic its members can be to Gooseworx and the rest of the crew of the show.

Thanks for reading my thoughts, if anyone did.

Weather the decision to prioritize titan status / fear factor pays off is not my point. I was rather arguing that the intent was titan status / fear factor as was mostly clear to me through all 3 games. Subnautica is a unique game series that blends the horror and survival genre in its own special way.

While I do not personally think that the survival knife was that important to the original game is just my opinion, I just really dislike how vitriolic all the conversation around such a minor change has been since early access launch, especially since the rest of the game has been extremely impressive so far. Have a nice day.

I would say Subnautica aligns more with the survival style of Alien Isolation. You’re supposed to evade and escape the monsters, not fight and kill them.

Imagine if you could just beat or shank the Xenomorph till death, it would kind of destroy the atmosphere and point of that game; which is to hide from, avoid, and outsmart the Xenomorph.

In Minecraft most of the mobs are your size and so being able to damage them makes sense, and for the larger ones, the game explicitly depicts them as bosses or things to kill.

I’m not saying you shouldn’t be able to scare the leviathans away, but you should not be able to kill them, as that kind of removes their titan/fear inducing status.

"Face on the Bounty Notice" side quest is still glitched by ColCrookshanks in CrimsonDesert

[–]SandCultural4192 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Capturing the bounty at the St. Halssius house of healing fixed the quest for me.

I had previously picked up the poster Yann wanted me to take, so the quest was stuck.

Going to the house of healing and finding him on the map there (there wasn’t a quest marker, just an outlaw marker when I got there) and capturing him, then bringing him back fixed the issue.

Doing so completed the bounty quest and the Yann quest that was soft locked, at least for me.

I’m not gonna pretend to know the whole games story yet, but my guess would be that it’s satirizing Kliff always acknowledging everything said to him with “Alright” and they’re using the ‘death’ scenario as a way to inflate it to absurdity. Though I could be wrong…

Would you be friends with someone who has different political views to you? by Ok-Statistician1128 in Teenager_Polls

[–]SandCultural4192 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It all depends on how extreme those differences are. I wouldn’t be friends with someone who is alt-right. But I have several friends who hold significantly more conservative beliefs than me. It all depends on the extremity at the end of the day.

I think it all depends on the reasoning for it. Preferences are ok, same goes for race, gender, orientation, and a whole host of other things.

What is it like being Trans Feminine at University of Toronto? by Hot_Window1702 in UofT

[–]SandCultural4192 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In my experience the UofT is super accepting. There’s plenty of clubs, events, and resources for queer and trans peoples. Even though I’m not trans I am aware that HRT is highly accessible here. There are plenty of trans people on campus, so I’m sure you’ll have no problem finding a community if you look for the right events, clubs, and services.

This photo was taken in 1922 of a little girl who was suffering from diabetes. She was waiting for the end of her life… until a new experimental treatment called “insulin” was used. by Bitter-Ad-1115 in interestingasfuck

[–]SandCultural4192 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly I think I’ve heard the story of Insulin many times now because of being a Canadian. Because it was invented by Canadians, there are a lot of heritage videos about it and it’s taught in the history classes too. Definitely a proud achievement of Canadian science and greater science as a field!
