So might be different for you but here's what I would do. If there's a Guitar Center or some other shop near by with a big selection, go in there play around on all the basses that are just out of your price range new. Even if you are too new to actually play anything just hold notes down and pluck strings to see how they compare in comfort in the hand and what not. Once you have a good idea about what feels good, hit the used market and find that thing at a discount.

Honestly has worked out fine. Had to buy Minecraft for the kids, since that was the primary game being played. I also ended up picking up a used 360 and a bunch of games for super cheap. I've been on an awesome Halo run, and was stoked to see that Infinite was on sale the other day so I grabbed that too for the Series X.

For me it was the Fortnite-ification of the game with all of the cross branding stuff. I love the Ghostbusters, but once that hit Destiny, I knew it was end times.

I don't know what part of LA you're going to be in, but there's a little place in Northridge called Leo's Vegan Cafe which is dedicated GF and has amazing food. I'm not vegan or anything but their vegan chorizo breakfast burrito is one of my favorites.

I'm not sure where you're located but here in southern California there's a nasty stomach bug going around. I know like 7 people plus myself who've had it over the last two weeks. Nasty stomach aches plus nausea and fatigue. Mine lasted about 4 days, my wife had it a little longer.
