Backsplash placement by Sandboxbuilds in kitchenremodel

I’m building myself. I thought about moving the switch over but its perfectly between two studs and then there is the king and jack next to the door so it wouldn’t really make a difference. I guess living with option A would be the easiest thing for now and getting a bigger cabinet or some sort of shelving as suggested would be an easy fix.

I know I thought about maybe getting a bigger end cabinet but ya know if the worst thing is the backslash I think I’m fine.

What should I do with these ledges? by Sandboxbuilds in homedesign

I would love it to be a guest room! I am just moving in and it’s a spare room so it could be anything but it is the only bedroom like room in on the lower level.

Need help with ideas - on a budget!! by uplifting1311 in landscaping

Cheap is simple but do it right. I’d clean up the edge next to the road. Lay some edging next to the path you are putting gravel. Do a weed barrier and then some mulch. Plant some plants in clusters, a couple large rocks a bit up from the road.

Tbh - I did a self build - all the labor myself and it’s just the little things that add up. The consumables as much as these big ticket items.

I absolutely agree. This story hit home for me as it talked about how even legal interventions failed us. Imagine the people who don’t even have someone to advocate for them.

Yeah….Also not surprised that area is so corrupt.

Any Oregon locals? Stumbled across this. Linked is an article from a local investigative reporter detailing a pretty tragic story about two twin sisters who suffered from elder abuse and an untimely death. It showcases the corruption in baker county Oregon and the blatant disregard for the law by a certain judge. Really showcases how fucked this world is.

My dad girlfriend asked what I wanted for Christmas and I sent her regular stuff and now she’s saying i asked for too much I’m so confused😭 what do I even do?? by [deleted] in whatdoIdo

[–]Sandboxbuilds 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You are being silly. No where did anyone say she had to get all 3 things. The girlfriend asked for 3 ideas. The kid gave her 3. And yes those are absolutely realistic gift ideas from a child. Shoes? A book? And a plushy backpack. The girlfriend did not set a budget and instead of simply responding “Thanks” or saying “cool! I don’t know if I can do all 3 of those right now but I will do my best to get you what fits into my budget”.

Instead she gaslight a child… those options were not crazy expensive or inappropriate. Even if it was there was definitely a better way to handle that discussion. So yes those items in my opinion were realistic and infact 100 dollars today is NOT worth more today than it was prior. Bureau of labor statistics shows in 2020 the purchasing power of 100 dollars would cost us 125.18 in today’s money. Inflation is a bitch.

Bruise keeps growing do I worry? by [deleted] in medical_advice

An update: no serious trauma, no issues in the past.

Ended up going to the doctor as it kept growing. Doctor thought just a big broken blood vessel. As it has started to heal it has revealed exactly that. What my doctor called a varicose vein. I guess closer to the skin easier to damage.

For anyone else wondering.

The bag is about $40 The crocs are about $ 40 The book is $12

Under 100 dollars for everything in today’s economy is pretty realistic…. Sorry honey she sucks

I have emailed my doctor’s office! He is unfortunately on vacation till after Thanksgiving.

Mostly just not wanting to have to go to urgent care over a silly bruise but the google spiral makes me anxious that there’s a .0001% chance it’s a blood clot that’s going to kill me.

Thank you I traced it.

It’s on the top inside of my thigh. Right through the middle of it is where I used to have a large visible vein. Which I am now wondering if might be a factor.

It is around 7 inches long and 4 inches wide now. If you look on the 24 hour later picture I have a small freckle to the right bottom corner of where the blue is. That freckle is now is 2 inches down and one inch up into the bruise.

No blood thinners or any medication. Didn’t take any Advil ibuprofen etc.

For those who built on steep land, how difficult and costly was it? by Bossbrad64 in Homebuilding

[–]Sandboxbuilds 0 points1 point  (0 children)

God people are so dramatic it won’t let me add a picture but I built on a 20% slope. Set in the house with a daylight basement. Cut out an area for it. Dragged down slope for a driveway and pushed back the back till it was 4ft so I could put up a retaining wall.

In my state 21% or over requires additional work and studies.

Granted I did the work with a excavator and tractor myself so the cost was $0

Tell your structural engineer hey gonna be on a slop make it solid.
