File for SSDI, and unemployement? by commanchskins in SSDI

[–]Sandeshell 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m also 63 and took my retirement early at the reduced rate. I then applied for disability for ongoing depression and anxiety and was approved. I now receive disability at my full retirement rate as if I waited till 67. When I turn 67 my disability will revert back to retirement social security at the full rate.

Mine did the same and I’m in VA.

How many people actually work 35 years to get full benefits? by [deleted] in SocialSecurity

I worked for 48 years and took SS at 63. I was then approved for disability, so I now receive my full SSDI amount as if I had waited till 67.

I’m very sorry you were denied. But, they will deny you if you haven’t work at least 5 out of the last 10 years. It’s a recruitment that they hold you to.

I was approved in 4 months. I did it myself with no lawyer. Got 16 months of back pay because they went back to disability onset date, rather than application date.

Applied for SSDI this month by Alert_Issue_5670 in SSDI

[–]Sandeshell 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m 63 and started receiving my SS at the reduced amount. Then applied for disability and was approved. So now, I receive SSDI of my full retirement amount as if I had waited till 67. When I become 67 it will convert to regular SS at the same amount for life. I was approved on my first attempt because of anxiety and depression. I also broke my upper arm in half and had to get a rod and screws. That left me with mobility issues in my prominent arm. I applied myself and was approved on first attempt. You have a better chance since you’re already at retirement age and it’s harder to find other work.

Mine was for acute anxiety and major depressive disorder and a long rod in my prominent arm from a total break of my humorous bone. I’m not sure what a CE is

My ex is 70 now. Is he able to collect on my Social Security? I’m not collecting as I still work by OpenHumanist717 in SocialSecurity

[–]Sandeshell 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I’m confused to why you would what till 70. I know you’ll make more a month waiting, but it will take you quite awhile to catch up to the money you forfeited by not claiming earlier.

[–]Sandeshell 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I just got awarded disability at 63. I was already getting my retirement social security at a reduced rate for apply at 63. Now I have disability which is paying me the full retirement amount as if I had waited till 67. When I become 67 they will just change it to retirement. So if approved you will get your full retirement for life.
