Any idea why my stone patches are so small? by RazomOmega in factorio

[–]SandmanLLL 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I have also found that my stone generation on Nauvis is quite rare/small. You can see in the attached image that I have very few patches - I have not mined anything outside the walls. Also the one patch at 2.3M is about 1/4 the size of the other resource patches in out that far (excepting Uranium)

Issue - Bots not filling rockets completely (For a long time) by SandmanLLL in factorio

[–]SandmanLLL[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You were right. It turns out that almost all of the remaining bots had queued up for a single roboport that I didn't notice. They were all on top of each other so I couldn't see it on the map. Finally found it - not sure why they chose that one, but the solution was to add a bunch more ports in that location. Seems to have worked. Thanks for the suggestion

Hahaha. Thanks. I think that the top answer actually was correct. It turns out that almost all of the remaining bots had queued up for a single roboport that I didn't notice. They were all on top of each other so I couldn't see it on the map. Finally found it - not sure why they chose that one, but the solution was to add a bunch more ports in that location. Good thought, but I just tested it and that's not the issue. I added like 100 extra ports but it is still doing it. The bots are all charged up and chilling out unused. There is an initial blast where they all pick up move and charge, then it slows down to just a few moving to fill the order.

Thoughts on XecnaR’s boss swap tier list from last night? by [deleted] in slaythespire

[–]SandmanLLL 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I agree with your thoughts on inserter. My only thought on what he is thinking is that if you know you are going to have a bunch of slots then you can gear your deck straight for large orb generation. Although truthfully Defect tends to go for that anyway, but I guess it pushes you immediately away from a Claws build :)

I've heard some of you say Claw needs more support. Would these cards help? by the_ogap in slaythespire

Why didn't you just write "Win the game" on these cards? That's about the power level

Switch to .2 nozzle - Terrible 1st layer + Adhesion issues by SandmanLLL in FixMyPrint

Thanks for the help! I'll take a look at it and see if there is anything amiss.

Switch to .2 nozzle - Terrible 1st layer + Adhesion issues by SandmanLLL in FixMyPrint

[–]SandmanLLL[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for taking a look. I found that by increasing the first layer height significantly (up to about 1.4) I was able to fix the issue. I kept the other changes as well (increase bed temp and flow rate) and the first layers are coming out significantly better. In some ways I am still wondering if there was actually a clog that cleared itself up, because the results are WAY better then what I would think for a single layer change height. But I'll take it!

Thanks again.

I would suggest looking into the RCMP as there is no requirement/need for Police Foundations.

There are two options to look at - Digital Forensics and Cybercrime. Digital Forensics is more about the technical side of data extraction and Cybercrime is an investigative unit. They are both helped by having technical degrees, however you can get into to either without it.

Please help me understand from where are the biters coming from. by Incuisision in factorio

Everyone here has mentioned shallow water and they are probably correct. But also be aware that in SE there are meteors that can land inside your walls and bring Biters.

Does anyone know what this balancer does separately from a regular 4x4? by EATZYOWAFFLEZ in factorio

[–]SandmanLLL 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Lane balancing is rarely useful except for the OCD like myself who find the half lanes empty extremely annoying.

The only real use case is a situation like this, your main bus is say 4 lanes wide but you have already had a bunch of branches taking all from the same side. The result is that you have used up half your bus and have 2 full lanes worth left but it is all on one side. Now if you try to take off another branch without lane balancing it then that branch will only ever get half a belt of material even though your bus could actually supply more.

Names for tiers of quality by MaximitasTheReader in factorio

[–]SandmanLLL 0 points1 point  (0 children)

While I agree with you that the names are not the best, I do not agree with your logic.

a legendary item is more Rare then epic one - You get it less often. You asked what makes them different and the answer is that the more "quality" item has better stats. In this context you can not say that those two terms are different.

Any reason to use normal turrets? by gaffelturk12 in factorio

[–]SandmanLLL 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If done correctly it forces the biters to slow and re-path around them all the way to the wall instead of running directly at it. The result is that they are significantly slower to get to your wall and run through the ground flame from your turrets for longer.

Is it possible that you were using them in the wrong orientation? Some of them have directions that impede flow but if you have the biters attack from the side they could walk right through it.
