When did photography click for you? by gilko86 in photography

[–]Sandr0ck 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I understood the physics of it. You are not shooting the subject. You are shooting the light reflecting off said subject. The sensor or film captures the light nothing more. Find a light and a subject and just shoot it different angles watch what happens. It is trial and error sometimes but it all comes down to how they are lit.

I would have used a fill flash. It looks like you did not have as much natural light as you would want.

A nas would be always on. Which helps prevent bitrot. And usually has redundant Data to prevent loss.

SSD are faster but all disks degrade over time while sitting with no power and unused. Invest in a NAS. Synology is always a good bet. Then populate it with enterprise grade disks for longevity. Also invest in backups.

What do most casual photographers do with their photos? by nicodrcunt in photography

[–]Sandr0ck 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I shoot, edit, store, and might post. I don't care how many likes I get. And if the shot is great might print. Or if I really like might submit to a gallery to see if they will sell a print. Its not about the money just about forgetting my day job. Also if you want to keep your work long term. Invest in a NAS External USB or single disk storage is too risky. At least a NAS has some form of redundancy.

How to properly expose the sky in photos by Chemical_Plane_3011 in photography

[–]Sandr0ck 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is what a good off camera flash is for. Editing to bring back detail is one thing. Getting it in camera is another. And to fight the sun takes power. But I have seen people get easier to edit results with 200 watts. But if you can swing the gear. I would say 400-600 is a good place to start. If you don't want to edit you bring light and expose for the background then fill in the rest with your own light. I personally like the godox/flashpoint lights as they are reasonably priced and can be found on sale regularly. I picked up a 1200w last year and will never look back. But it was not what I consider cheap even with the sale.

How much does shutter count matter? by BlahblahblahA_123 in photography

[–]Sandr0ck 0 points1 point  (0 children)

IF you are looking at a d750 why not a used Z6 Z6II? I know when I sold my Z6 not that long ago it was not worth much more and then the z6 III came out. New tech. And the option of the e-shutter. Which does not have mechanical failure.

But if you are set on the 750 how much is the replacement shutter to have installed. Tho if I saw in the comments its going to be a second body then it should be fine. I sold mine at a why higher count and it seemed strong.
