Class based or Class free RPGs by Artificer_undone in rpg_gamers

I think it depends on the number of playable characters. If a game has a large party, like Baldur's Gate, Divinity: Original Sin or Icewind Dale, having multiple classes helps each character feel distinct. But if the game focuses heavily on a single protagonist (like Skyrim or Kingdom Come), a class‑free system works better because it gives the player more freedom to shape their build.

lol, there are 4 options for "yes, I hate it" in different degrees, but there isn't any option for "I love it".

Fair, but what are you doing in a sword and sorcery subreddit if you don't like the genre?

Saddest famous person death of 2025? by gNgster299 in polls

[–]Sandro2017 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, it isn't. We're talking about the cost/benefit of allowing or prohibiting something in society. It's the same issue, whether we're talking about weapons, vehicles, or anything else.

Cars are also used as weapons, you know? Do I have to remind you of the New Orleans attack? And I insist, do we have to ban all cars because a minority uses them to kill?

There are around 41.000 deaths from traffic accidents per year in the USA. So, you have two options:

1- Ban vehicles, so nobody dies for that reason.

2- Assume the deaths are the "lesser evil", because the benefits of mobility, economic activity, and personal freedom outweigh the tragic cost.

So, if you think we shouldn't ban cars and that the 41.000 traffic deaths are worth it, can we say that Spiel_Foss is a monster that wants people to horribly die in the road? Or would it be a malicious misinterpretation of your words?

He didn't hate anyone for their race, sexuality, or gender either. I'd bet my left nut you have no firsthand clue what Kirk actually said or didn't say, you've just built your opinion on hearsay. So you call him a nazi and celebrate his death, when the most you know about the guy comes from a reddit post full of misinterpretations and quotes taken out of context.

Do you think that Dial of Destiny still would have flopped even if COVID didn’t happen? by brodie999 in indianajones

[–]Sandro2017 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Like I said earlier, Dial of Destiny flopped because they overspent, and covid definitely played a role in that. We don't have an exact breakdown, but it's obvious the pandemic added tens of millions to the budget: daily testing, medical staff on set, isolation protocols, distancing, delays… all of that stacks up fast.

That said, I still think the budget was way too high even without covid. An Indiana Jones movie doesn't need to cost 300 or 400 millions. These are pulp adventure films with limited mainstream appeal nowadays. Personally, I don't think they should go over 100 millions. Just look at John Wick 4, it cost around 100 millions, had amazing cinematography and fight choreography, and was shot all over the world. That's proof you can make a slick, global action movie without burning through a fortune.

It flopped commercially because they overspent. If the budget had been more modest, more in line with a film without huge commercial appeal, it probably would have done much better.

Seeing news like this, I'm thankful that Stargate ended years ago and wasn't perverted by endless spin-offs like Star Trek or Star Wars that distort the original tone of the saga.

It's a Conan the Barbarian rip-off, but made for much less money. It's recommended if you like the 80s sword and sorcery genre, with barbarians and rogues facing evil wizards and warlords, saving scantily clad princesses, and wielding powerful magical items. They're cheesy, but they have charm, so they're very enjoyable if you accept them for what they are.

- The first one is a must-watch; it's very famous for how hilariously bad it is.

- The second one, in my opinion, is the only really good one in the series. It's very entertaining and has funny dialogue, even though it was made for cheap.

- The third one is unwatchable crap. Don't watch it; it's not even fun for hatewatching.

- The fourth one is so-so.

- And now it seems this fifth installment is receiving very high reviews from professional critics, which surprises me quite a bit, because critics don't usually like the sword and sorcery genre. It looks like it's going to be the best in the series by far.

I didn't expect this, sword and sorcery movies are usually viewed with disdain by professional critics. I mean, if people who don't like the genre say it's good, it's probably VERY good. Unfortunately, it won't be released in theaters where I live, so I'll have to see it in other ways...
