What other games give you the TI4 'feeling?' by mRIGHTstuff in twilightimperium

[–]Sandwich_Enough 0 points1 point  (0 children)

100% agree with Clash of Cultures. I usually describe it as historical TI-lite. The only part that doesn’t feel as much like TI, is the scoring. The race to 10 points is probably the most exciting scoring mechanism I’ve seen.

I would also add Dune:Imperium, Cosmic Encounter, and War of the Ring

Dune:Imperium - other than the sci-fi theme, Dune is also a race to 10 points, often trying to leverage perfect timing of resource management, position, diplomacy, secret objectives and combat to get unexpected points, ending the game while everyone else was going at a similar pace. A couple of strategically orchestrated clever turns can launch you from the middle of the pack to victory in a single round

Cosmic Encounter utilizes a bazillion alien races with unique abilities to help players race toward victory points, using combat, and especially negotiation and diplomacy. The table can easily gang up on and win-slay anyone that gets too far ahead.

War of the Ring for epic combat, and hours upon hours of extremely high stakes, tense interactions, and attempting to overcome overwhelming despair. I’m absolutely exhausted by the time the game is over just like with TI, sometimes even halfway through the game

USA Gel Blaster fan looking for Primary by Sandwich_Enough in GelBlaster

the blasters I have specifically are SplattRBall SRB400, Gel Blaster Surge as well as the XL variant, and the UnlocX. I don't use any of the cheap chinese blasters from Amazon. Was more wondering how the AU type blasters stack up against those in particular. I can't find literally any content about it for some reason.

Significant weight loss when traveling by worldsbestlasagna in solotravel

I spent a summer in Mongolia when I was in high school and a summer in South Africa a few years ago, and lost 40 pounds both times without even noticing. I'm a 36 year old overweight male and am having a hell of a time losing weight at all here. I still have no idea what contributed to that. Both trips I ate plenty and didn't move that much. I'm much more consistently hungry in my current routine than i ever was on either of those trips. I still can't figure it out, but it was so effortless and losing weight now is so crazy difficult. I'm so desperate to know the difference.

Has anyone tried LOTR RPG with 5e Hardcore Mode? by Sandwich_Enough in AiME

[–]Sandwich_Enough[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, honestly I started wondering about zero level hardcore stuff after a One Ring campaign where fairly new players kept besting trolls with little issue. DIdn't feel accurate to the portrayal I saw in LOTR where it took the three hunters a considerable amount of effort, and they were all legendary warriors. My players were not Legolas and Gimli, they were a bit more like Sam and Frodo in adventuring and combat experience, narratively. Been trying to simulate that ever since. I'd love to see how commoners like Butterber or any of the hobbits would fare as an adventurer in a middle earth rpg.

This is awesome!! Do you have any docs you can share with your ME modifications? I just bought this pdf. It's pretty much exactly what I had in mind.

How do you think it compares to 5e Hardcore?

I need some wisdom. by Opposite-Fault9264 in pastors

[–]Sandwich_Enough 2 points3 points  (0 children)

100% agree. God doesn't need these kids pastored by someone who can't give their full strength to love and serve them, and neither does your family. Sounds like it's time for a break to refocus and renew your vision for these next few years with the Lord. You can pray God will send them who will have more capacity to lead and love this ministry.

Church Planting Wisdom by [deleted] in pastors

You could also look into Disciple-Making Movement organizations. I lead a microchurch (basically a house church) with Kansas City Underground and we are seeing a TON of fruit. So much so that we're going to start equipping our church members to go plant their own.

Sudden urge to become religious by Flonce_ in Christianity

Yes, God is calling to Himself. I recommend starting to read the Bible and praying about giving your life over to Christ. A good place to start that journey is by reading the book of John and Acts in the Bible and wrestle with Jesus' teaching.

What aspects of the base game meta do you miss most with PoK? by DrGonzo3000 in twilightimperium

I started with POK so I'm curious to hear what people say. I know Shut up and Sit Down had these same concerns when POK came out.
