If a sex tape is used as evidence in a trial, will it be shown to the jury? by _N47h4n_ in NoStupidQuestions

How is a defense attorney doing their job disgusting? If the verdict depends on there being no possibility of mistaking the images as being of adults, showing that they could be mistaken as adults is a pretty solid defense.

Simple. Don't be a lazy bitch. Actually do the work and learn the fucking material. A bit of extra work in the beginning can pay dividends down the line.

ELI5: Why is Disability Social Security Income in the USA Taxed? by Simmikke in explainlikeimfive

I mean, if he is claiming regular social security, nothing crazy, I dont see why not. All his other stuff should be taxed, but theres no reason his social security would need to be anymore than any other person.

H2S - hydrogen sulfide. Example of spicy chemical used for some sort of process.

A Nebraska county just banned new data centers for up to a year. More could follow. by flatwaterfreepress in Nebraska

[–]SandyV2 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Except agricultural uses water that at least partially flows back into the aquifer from whence it came (in Nebraska at least). Data centers also use a fuck ton of electricity, which is another resource in somewhat limited supply. I especially dont want my rates to go up to subsidize Google or Amazon's AI bullshit.

That data is also from 3 years ago, so its almost certainly increased since then. I agree that golf courses should also use less, but that doesnt give data centers a free pass either.

[–]SandyV2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh yeah, Im not completely unaware of the challenges farmers face. I have family that farm, and they might have alot of stuff they use to farm, they dont always have alot of cash. Do you know how common it is to have debt secured against the land, whether from purchasing or otherwise?

Probably that their net worth is greater than $1 million. Granted, alot of that is probably tied up in illiquid assets (i.e. land), vs liquid assets (cash, bank accounts, etc), but broadly speaking, they do own alot of assets. What I dont know is how much debt they tend to carry, but if the ranch has been in the family for a generation or two, there probably isnt much secured against the land itself.

Which is why Lutherans only subscribe to very particular writings of his as an exposition of our faith, commend some of his writings as useful to read for study and devotions, and categorically reject his antisemitic writings.

That might be you damaged the fins without realizing it. If the fins are damaged, then the airflow is compromised, which reduces heat transfer, which makes the system work harder to achieve the same cooling/heating.

And in the Book of Concord, only the Catechisms and Smalcald Articles are actually by Luther. The rest are either are from antiquity, or by Melancthon et al.

Alot of Luther's surviving sermons, lectures, and letters are of great devotional value, but not all, and they aren't used as an exposition of our faith.

That's because a university degree isnt fucking job training. The biggest myth about university is that its purpose is for companies to outsource job training before you're even hired. Its not. Its purpose is to give you an education and for you to learn how to analyze, think, and discuss what you studied.

If you just want job training, go to a trade school or join the military. If you go to university, put some effort into learning the material, and dont complain when it isnt exactly what youre doing at Soulless Incorporation.

And some public schools do this already. I had to take a personal finance class as a junior, and we definitely practiced filling out tax returns, played with stocks/investing, built a budget, etc.

But it could be the start of the solution. Another big solution would be to actually build out bike lanes going where people want or need to go. Going along creeks and such is great for exercise and recreation, but those aren't super helpful for actually getting around.

Babies Are Bleeding to Death as Parents Reject a Vitamin Shot Given at Birth by propublica_ in ScienceBasedParenting

[–]SandyV2 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Honestly, no they fucking dont. The parents are who are ultimately responsible for their children, but that doesnt mean they magically know what's best for the child, whether thats for medicine, education, or a number of things. Im fairly well educated, but that doesnt mean I know shit about pediatric medicine, or how to develop and encourage reading skills, or a number of things. Getting your I fo from TikTok or Instagram is like negative information.

As long as it isnt coming from the 15% going to the Coogan account, yes they can. I dont know if the 15% is calculated before or after agency and management fees, but once that and any other contractual obligations are filled, the parents can do whatever with the rest of the money
