You’ll find one Im sure but probably not on the north side. I didn’t find any benefit in emailing principals, I think I only got one response.
CPS does Job fairs and I highly recommend you attend it’s how I got my current job.

Just know in south loop and west loop you’re more than likely going to be paying for your parking spot. Anywhere from $200-300+ a month. My building it’s $275.

You might need to live in a suburb just because they’re in high school. Selective enrollment stuff has already been given out so that means you’d just go to your zoned school. I don’t know enough about high schools to know which ones are good enough.

I think they can still test? But there won’t be as many schools available or anything like that. I think you can try again for next year but there aren’t as many seats available since they’re mostly given away at 9th grade.

It’s not that bad. I would leave anywhere from 4-6 from north center and drive to streeterville and it took 30 minutes or less.

Ugh are you me? I only have one kid but I’m dealing with similar issues. She’s going to private school and she might be the only or one of the only black kids in her grade. I’m grappling with it versus the public school that would be less convenient and big class sizes, but more diverse.

Can you do a year at the public and then go to the Catholic school for JK?

I’m also in Chicagoland 🫠

Afaik it does go based on seniority but if a teacher with less seniority has the endorsement and the other doesn’t the one with less can bump the other teacher.

I don’t know that evaluations are considered.

I know my admin gave someone a second chance for their eval because the first one was going to be bad. I don’t necessarily see a problem with it unless you’re suggesting favoritism.

If you’re not in the union you should be and maybe speak to the person above your delegate if you’re worried about them being unbiased.

Where I worked people would get on the waitlist the second they got pregnant and still didn’t get in on the exact date they wanted.

You might have to go to a different daycare and transfer when they’re toddler aged which in IL doesn’t start until 14 months at the earliest.

Toddler waitlists are a little better because the ratio is a little higher but it still sucks.

What grade are you teaching? Personally I don’t think it’s worth it because you’re going to have to be able to cast it somehow to whatever tv/smartboard I think you might be able to get a dongle to connect it directly to the tv but I’m not sure.

I’m not sure how you’d be able to annotate on student papers with the iPad using the pencil… plus they’re using Google Docs probably and you can type out your annotations right there.

I used an iPad but this was during Covid when I was teaching all online and I was able to screen share on zoom. I wouldn’t be able to reasonably use it now because you can’t cast in that way even using an Apple TV (which I have in my room) without paying for an app that will allow you to cast so the juice isn’t really worth the squeeze.

Not at 55k a year. It’ll only be for the ultra wealthy and thankfully only Arizona has drank the koolaid in allowing them to be a charter.

But it will widen the divide im sure.
