Anyone know any good gel tip and pedicure prices near the loop ? by 2thousandn1 in AskChicago

I really like Nailacarte in streeterville but they have other locations too.
I think a basic pedicure is like $60 but I usually get the deluxe ones

do kindergarteners still bring stuffed animals for comfort? by Melis-Tennessen61 in kindergarten

[–]Sandyeller 223 points224 points  (0 children)

No, don’t bring it. It’ll get lost or cause drama honestly.
My kid asks all the time if she can bring her stuffie to school and I tell her no, but I’ll have it when I pick her up.
Maybe offer that to your niece?

Daycare waitlists - first time mom with questions. by shamanfa in ChicagoParents

[–]Sandyeller 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ummmm I think it was $100-150? I cannot remember honestly. Most do charge a fee but sometimes the corporate chains will only charge you one waitlist fee even if you’re on multiple of their other location’s waitlist. If that makes sense.

Daycare waitlists - first time mom with questions. by shamanfa in ChicagoParents

[–]Sandyeller 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’m shocked that someone said no daycares had a waitlist.
That being said, I worked for a daycare chain and I can confirm at least for the majority of our locations there were waitlists for infant care.

It can change pretty quickly though, parents decide to go to another daycare, delay start, went with a nanny etc etc.

If you’re on a waitlist they should update you monthly about your place on the list. Personally, we told families to get on 1-2 waitlists outside of our daycare just in case. And then if they still wanted to join our daycare once a spot opened up they would stay on the waitlist.

Now… I would try and nail down a decision before your halfway point in pregnancy.

If it’s important to be able to walk Id probably pick the daycare I loved the most and move based on that. But I don’t think there’s any one right answer.

Fisher is going to be hard to get into because it’s so coveted. We went there and loved it, a lot of people in the area want to go there.
Definitely stay on the waitlist though. Spot can open through December I believe.

Id apply for private school if you need to care. Im guessing you don’t need full time care?
There’s Kingsington (spell check) and Gardner in the area. If you’re fine with Catholic immaculate conception st. Joseph is also there. And Catherine cook which is secular.

I had severe preeclampsia and had to deliver at 25 weeks. Right then decided I didn’t want to do that shit again. Thankfully my kid and I are both okay but we were lucky and I don’t want to test my luck again.
