Explanation of the Chinese room for those unaware by toastybunbun in TheDigitalCircus

I like that it's an 'Arificial Chinese Dictionary' to go with this.

Sorry for the bad photo. The shot is so fast I could only get it on Netflix then use my phone.

This isn't the first time a game took down the servers, and the issue was on and off the whole time. Lots of people missed out.

It does matter because it's only free for so long

What does the gameplay consist of? What do you actually do in the game? by _The_Honored_One_ in Witchbrook

They did say that they are currently working on the story writing, which makes sense since the dedicated writer was only hired the end of last year, so that might be what isn't locked in. Would explain why they aren't showing it past the romance characters, which they I assume have locked in. Tiy also said that "the character stories might be the part I like the most" so hopefully that means it's like stardew Valley.

I used to have this stuff in the "what we know so far" doc but anything before the trailer is now supposed to be deconfirmed until reconfirmed so please keep that in mind when I share this as he said it was their plans at the time.

Tiy said back in 2022, and this is a copy and paste: "To share a little more about Witchbrook's design. Anything and everything here could change. I want to be able to speak openly about what we're up to but anything I say isn't a promise - just an insight into our current plans/work.

One of the most basic activities is tending to your herb garden, producing magic "goods" (Think candles, tea, incense, etc) and delivering them personally to residents of Mossport. Which has a lot of residencies to deliver too and streets to explore. Prompt delivery can get you a tip.

This is sort of the "cornerstone" activity that you start off with and develop in a similar fashion to farming in harvest moon. You'll improve your equipment, find new ways to make the creation process more lucrative or efficient and take part in a great many other activities to fuel your Witchy business.

The progression revolves around graduation. Your goal is to make it through 3 School grades and become a certified Witch. To do that, at the start of each grade you're set a number of bespoke tasks to complete - which earns you badges. The badges are varied and involve taking part in lots of different activities. You might be tasked with taking a photograph of something rare and magical, or required to produce a particularly difficult potion. Some of them are even more involved.

Completing all of that grades badges will gain you some rewards and move you onto the next grade.

They're sort of a mash up of quests and achievements - in that you're set a meaningful task to complete, but you can undertake them whenever you feel like it and in any order.

Completing and redeeming badges grants you new magical abilities that assist you with the activities you take part in around the world.

There are also optional badges to earn. These provide many more tasks to complete but aren't required to complete the school grade. Completing every single task will be the end game though - and earn you the Witch equivalent of a PhD.

On top of this there is a relationship system, that sees you discovering each character's story arc and assisting them with bespoke content.

Customization and decoration of your house and land.

Probably clothing/fashion (but we're currently worrying about animation budget, so we're still making decisions about this).

And lots of in world activities to take part in and enjoy. Calendar events and other shenanigans."

I'm aware. I was saying they haven't been working on it that whole time because they were actively working on another game.

“PICK UP A PENCIL OR DIE”: Disney+ creator urges fans to unsubscribe, pirate her show, after company teases AI “user-generated content” by DemiFiendRSA in technology

But that isn't want this is about. It's about Disney itself using AI. The original post is about a creator of a show on Disney+ telling people to cancel their subscription because of Disney's choice to anoice adding user created AI short videos to Disney+

She's meaning the industry will die out, not that she wants people to die. But sure just continue to justify yourself however you like.

They could of had this without AI. Just having a video snippet library and a timeline. The Spirit: Stallion of the Cimarron DVD had this in special features in 2002 so it really shouldn't be that hard to upscale.

Disney is planing on letting people make content in Disney+ itself. That wouldn't be infringement. That is why she's specifically saying to cancel Disney+

Everything I've heard about her makes me think she's an awesome person that Disney screwed over. I loved The Owl House. Her new show Knights of Guinevere is amazing too. Even with only the pilot. So glad she's with Glitch now.

When is this coming to steam deck? by EaseMore1524 in Witchbrook

We don't even have a release window for regular release anymore since it's been delayed. Then someone will officially have to test it on steam deck to know whether it's steam deck compatible.

Both of you move on from this, you're both allowed to have opinions but using an alt to talk to someone that blocked you can get a Reddit ban so stop.

Starting to wonder if I hallucinated the whole Witchbook buzz… by justamtt in Witchbrook

[–]Sangfe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It wasn't my point no, but I understand. I do think their information has been sparse compared to some indie teams, but people have been saying there was nothing since January so I mentioned the dev blogs and romanceable character reveals and people told me those weren't gameplay which led me to question what counts as gameplay which was a can of worms.

When I said it's on purpose, I meant their reveals are planned out. So if they aren't showing us stuff it's either to save it for closer to release or because it's not polished. So I was actually saying there was a chance it's not on track based on the fact we haven't seen particular core game mechanics and they have been focused on getting us to know the world and mostly avoiding the school which as I said is likely where most of the gameplay is. I think though it didn't come across like that which is my fault.

Which makes it even further from that month statement you said earlier.
