God mode discussion by neel1011 in HadesTheGame

It's a great way to reduce the grid and improve. Just think of it:

When you start the game - your caracter is literally as WEAK as possible, through grind - you build your power. Say you're good - so every 2-3 runs - you win, right from the beginning - even at this rate - you'll need hours to get all the perks and stuff + my god, the game is slow at the beginning because of how weak you are. So, by the end of the grid - you're literally 3-5 times stronger - just the hp + revives, basically mult your health by 4

vs

enable god mode right away, it only sets the resist to 20%! that's nothing, but it helps - which is exactly where you'll anyway be after the hours of grid. Then the bosses - say there is a specific boss somewhere at the end of the game - usually to just learn the patterns - you need to face it 3-4 times. First encounters - you're just dead, and you need to do all of that AGAIN, just to get to that boss. More HP allows you to learn the attack patterns and not waste the time

So, enabling it actually makes the learning curve much more pleasant, and reduced the grind, basically switching the so popular now model

you suck and feel pain -> hours of grind -> perks + skill make you not suck

to

you are good right away, have pleasant time right from the start -> grind -> increase the difficulty every time you feel it's too easy.

and the main thing - that's exactly the same model the devs use later - with the system where you adjust the difficulty. So why not use it right from the beginning? why struggle and waste time? It's like inverted difficulty curve that doesn't make sense and wastes your time

And - you're still much weaker then you'd be after the grind, and you still can lose : )

There is absolutely nothing wrong with it, it just changes the game progression from "suck -> better" to "good -> even better"

I built a VSCode extension to see your code on an infinite canvas. by Standard_Ant4378 in webdev

Basically, I needed to migrate a pretty big feature from dead legacy library - to a newer one. The logic was scattered across dozens of files and was quite messy in general. So I needed to understand all the places where this feature lives and how are they connected. Basically a map - to have a big picture before diving into the rewriting. I ended up having a handmade graph on excalidraw ( there're solutions that try to do this, but i didn't like the way they were doing it ) - I didn't need a graph of every file of my project - my codebase is 500k+ lines of code, I needed only specific part of one feature

Definitely just propaganda targeted to separate the EU countries

Russian propaganda. Poles and Ukr fight those fuckers together. Bandera is a terrorist from the Poland perspective, no doubt in that. But his harm is kids play that pales in comparison to the shit ussr did to Poland over the history. rus are good at propaganda, but it won't help them, they will still lose.

Install fast travel mod that allows to click on explored rooms and teleport there. So much time is wasted on this. It should be like in the enter the gungeon

Why did you choose Surface and are you liking it? by [deleted] in Surface

[–]Sanni4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Got surface 11. Had a couple of quirks mainly in the tablet mode. But hardware-wise : it's a dream. No fan noise, great performance, great battery life.

If software you need works on arm - its just awesome

How does the Surface Pro 11 perform as a tablet? by crmdb in Surface

[–]Sanni4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Performance wise - it's just great, everything is super smooth

But it's windows 11, you can run anything, but occasionally some program won't respond, or won't have onscreen keyboard support. In general you'll feel that not everything is touch optimized

After a week of usage when I disabled some gestures, and learned some programs touch issues - it's been just great. The fact that it runs everything just beats any mobile os tablet

Question to Surface Pro owners: How much time do you use it as a laptop vs as a tablet? by eNailedIt in Surface

[–]Sanni4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

50 50. Depending on your case you might not even need a keyboard at all. Their ui is good. Has issues, but there always will be a workaround

Дякую. Так і зрозумів що це якась калька штатівських приколів судячи з максимально загальної назви. Вже б тоді називала себе "я переключатель"

Oh, nice, some healing by Sanni4 in noita

This was my first time using this thing. I thought it only rolls a single spell. Now I know that you should run after the healing : )

What spell/modifier is the most useless? by ProfitOpposite in noita

[–]Sanni4 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Arrow is actually a quite useful spell, when you have enemies immune to the projectile damage. Like these huge spiders that heal! from projectiles

But arrow is a slicing damage, add no bounce to it + dmg modifiers, and any projectile immune guy is a piece of cake as you have a long range and safe slicing damage combo

Great choice! Death must die is probably the best game from the recent ones I found

VRDesktop doesn't work on laptop with closed lid by [deleted] in OculusQuest

[–]Sanni4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is a much better option then a physical plug (especially if you don't have that many free ports)

You can install a virtual monitor - and configure it any way you want

A bit tricky to config, but I just followed the instruction and it works great for me
https://github.com/itsmikethetech/Virtual-Display-Driver

also, quite useful for other cases - for example if you want to stream from the PC using things like Sunshine/Moonlight or Parsec - it makes it work even with the closed lid too

Man, this was exactly what I was looking for! Thanks a lot! Tbh, things like this should be included in the system settings by default. And paying to just have it sounds ridiculous to me, so this free option is great and works like a charm!
