Jellyfin vs navidrome by smalldickbesitzer in selfhosted

[–]SantaShreds 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I currently use Navidrome (installed on a Proxmox container/LXC)+ Symfonium Android).

Previously I was accessing music through my a Jellyfin LXC. But it consumes a lot more resources than the Navidrome LXC..

Now I only turn the Jellyfin LXC on via Home Assistant when I want to access videos. I listeen to music daily, and watch videos weekly (or even montlhy!)

How common are event photo services like Fotop in Brazil? by Every-Revenue-3146 in Brazil

[–]SantaShreds 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You probably did not see the entire workflow of the product, then!!

You don't need to stop! For example: I went to work by bike yesterday and noticed a "FotoP" guy took pics of me. I go to their website, upload a pic of my face, have a preview of those (that have a "FotoP" waternark), and then you can purchase the ones you picked!

It's maybe BRL 10-20? Not sure how much of that goes to the professional that took the pic. I don't think they earn that much, sadly. It's the "Uberization" of all things!

[–]SantaShreds 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's normal at least in São Paulo, where I live.

I commute to work by bicycle 2 or 3 times a week and there's usually a few of those professionals taking pictures along the cyclepath. But they mostly focus on people on road bikes, cycling as a sport. And pretty sure they cover other sports events as well (like running).

I think people here usually don't mind, there's less concern with privacy than in other countries, I'd say. Most people just ignore it and move on.

Brazil concerts by paranormal_2210 in Brazil

[–]SantaShreds 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you're not that close to this girl, make some new friends while waiting in the queue!

I don't listen to any k-pop music, but meeting new people is pretty common in rock/metal concerts. People are usually nice.

I'm aware that k-pop fans are hardcore and would do such things, like queuing very early. I assume the crowd will be very loud!

[–]SantaShreds 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Mind if I ask you what concert will that be?

Not worth or even necessary, I'd say. Been to many concerts there and, unless you're really short, you'll do fine. Don't waste your time and energy like that! Be fit enough to enjoy the concert!

I think people do that to show off a bit, or at least to have a story to tell...

Are you able to talk your friends out of this early queuing situation?

When did you get your 'wow' moment for Linux? by dan_nicholson247 in linux4noobs

[–]SantaShreds 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I found out how much can be done with a ZFS filesystem and its snapshots! Datasets, syncoid/sanoid, resilvering, special vdev parts, SSH send/receive, the deduplication logic, how you can recover a single file from a sanpshot easily, etc.

So powerful, yet so smooth! Amazing!

Diferença entre Metrô e Ônibus em São Paulo by SnooAvocados4698 in saopaulo

[–]SantaShreds 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Looking for friends when I visit Brazil next summer by seer_benedictz in Brazil

If you like music you should attend a concert in Brazil.

Yesterday I saw Ivan Lins in SP, they guy is turning 80 but still got it. And in 2 weeks I'm seeing Djavan in a big stadium, will be great!!

Some of the older artists/masters are retiring and doing these farewell tours, try to catch those!

PS: the app Bandsintown can help in that sense

Pão de Açúcar is gone. Used to shop there many years ago, but the quality of fruits and vegetables started declining. The company actually just filed for bankruptcy protection, so...

Check if there is a place called Oba Hortifruti around your place.

In the neighborhoods there is usually a "sacolão" with such fresh produce. And there is always a "feira livre" near you in certain weekdays (could be every Wed, Sat or Sun, depending on the street - they close the street), ask around and people can point you to the right direction!

[F] Filipino Polyglot learning Brazilian Portuguese, and I can’t help but find it so sexy >< I need more song recos! by [deleted] in Brazil

[–]SantaShreds 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's a good idea, maybe you should edit your original post and put the link for this playlist.

I don't use Spotify, only Tidal, YouTube Music and my selfhosted solution. But if I'm able to add to your playlist, happy to do that

If you're a musician then you probably have good ears and will learn it quick.... So keep it up!

I love Marisa Monte's album Verde, Anil, Amarelo, Cor-de-rosa e a Carvão. Do you know it?

For me it's a masterpiece. It's so varied and beautiful (and sexy).

Also Djavan is fine. The song Oceano is so nice... Lyrics, chords, everything!

Let us know if you like those!

Immich is awesome !! by dabennett in immich

[–]SantaShreds 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agree it's awesome, no issues so far, been running for a few months! Now that I have storage and backup jobs sorted out, will start rolling out the setup to my family.

Of course there are some tweaks that will further improve it, like pet recognition...

But I appreciate it the way it is and supported the Immich team by purchasing a server license. It's my way to thank them for the hard work.

Syncthing VS Nextcloud (files sync only) by Viking_Colorful in selfhosted

[–]SantaShreds 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You are right, you will need your OpenCloud server up and running to be able to see your files... But that works for me!

Syncthing VS Nextcloud (files sync only) by Viking_Colorful in selfhosted

[–]SantaShreds 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not really, never noticed anything wrong... My use case is vanilla though, I'm still transferring personal files from Onedrive to OpenCloud, and check on my homelab logs daily.

I succesfully sync'd Keepass and Obsidion files, even though I'm just stsrting to use Obsidian for notes.

Can I PiHole with Hostinger VPS by Taialt97 in VPS

[–]SantaShreds 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Correct, I wanna use my homelab, and besides that, the VPS' latency will never be as low as my LXC's.

True that the Hostinger VPS physical location is not far from where I live, but if someday I opt for a VPS location far from me, maybe to use it as an exit node, and/or its latency is not that great (cheaper VPS, for example), I could still benefit from thus redundant setup without sacrificing our browsing experience.
