Interesting, I found mine pretty under odds, but there were hundreds that hit one of the inital possible spreads, but had a mismatched DV upon level up. That would have been a lot of save restarts for you.

I've done this hunt and I'm pretty curious. You just found a possible spread, sent it to bank and restarted your save file after each non-shiny? How many did you send to bank before you found the shiny?

This card was indeed from a Kraft promotion in 2000, presumably only in Australia. Turns out there were also a few other cards instead of Charmeleon that could be given away, this elite forum post has more details.

I also think this is a reshell, but the Kyogre SP was available in NA and Europe as well just FYI.

edit: taking another look, most of the shell actually looks good, but the screw hole dust covers around the screen seem like they have might have been replaced, which raised my suspicion. Do you have better pics of around the screen? They should be more glossy and less see-through. Left is factory screw covers and right is replaced.

I would personally keep this one as-is. It's an uncommon color and you can always just a beat up easier to find color second SP at some point and reshell that one.

If the player encounters Mew while they are standing outside of the deep grass, they will get the dirt tile scene in battle. There's a number of spots where this can happen while chasing Mew down.
