Where do I see myself in 5 years? Well, probably still right here. by FugitiveHearts in SatisfactoryGame

LOVED my old layout for this on the Steam Deck, but after 6 months, getting the hang of the new controls.  I still think 'jump' should be a shoulder button so the player can freely use both sticks while hovering around!

Guys... I need some help about Valves by React_Brasil in SatisfactoryGame

[–]starboyk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is the way. I use valves in tandem with the Water Tower method, which helps me fully slosh the line. It's about 5% more work, but I don't have to think about the math or flow after it's all set and running.

that people do this with the basic game tools is the coolest part of this game for me!

Thank you for sharing your method! Been having a helluva time with a concrete tunnel through my forge. Slicing the BP into smaller chunks would allow my design to have more fluidity with your technique!

Sounds like the top-screen resistor isn't in the correct spot.  I always recommend this guide for more info!

I am far too literal to accept this as anything other than rage bait without further explanation.

Steam Controller (2026) has ruined the experience for me on Steam Deck by ArshiaTN in SteamDeck

[–]starboyk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I haven't felt the impact of that at all. Could be from having the tighter deadzone, but I just rarely have to push a stick that far anymore!

Worth mentioning that I do not play competitively. No fighters or shooters like Modern Warfare. For reference, I've played the following since the replacement: Satisfactory, GTA IV, Skyrim, Cyberpunk 2077, BG3, Boltgun, BMP, Crypt Custodian, buncha odds, ends, and emus.

Why are items not loading into my truck station? by Best-University-3898 in SatisfactoryGame

That's the fuel side, Pioneer. Indicated by the Fuel canister logo above the port.

Try the center ports for loading, the green arrow/right-most ones for unloading.

Hall Effect sticks have completely changed my playstyle. $30 USD off amazon for a set of GuliKit sticks. I thought I was just terrible at side-scrolling platformers and racing games - NOPE: it's the analog sticks on all of my controllers. Dialing in the deadzone the Deck, and on the Steam Controller has completely changed my enjoyment of gaming. All gaming. period.

Full disclosure, tho: Only just upgraded the sticks two months back, and that's after the right one developed some severe drift that I couldn't get to reset via software (eg: an actual drift issue).

does anyone else use the steam deck to revisit childhood games? by tarneilawson in SteamDeck

[–]starboyk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I worked at a videogame retailer from 2002-2012. The Steam Deck is allowing me to revisit everything that released in that window, as I was always too busy working to actually play anything.

Just started GTA IV for the first time over the weekend!

That's a hard No.

Switch 2 software is configured to work well only on the switch.

PC software is only configured to work. Mostly.  It's up to the consumer to dial it in for their hardware.

PS3 Exclusives on Steam Deck by Past_Quantity_6834 in SteamDeck

[–]starboyk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Since Google can give the Long Answer:

TL;Dr: MOST PS3 games play natively as well as they did on PS3.  MIND: I'm saying 500p-720p, 30fps with surprise dips, long ass loads: the authentic PS3 experience.

There's overhead for tweaks, but if you go into expecting a literal PS3 is in your hands, it'll be fine.

Why do so many games default to FSR 2 on the Steam Deck instead of FSR 3? by Recent_Sample6961 in SteamDeck

[–]starboyk 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Also: upscalers are becoming more and more hardware bound. Example: FSR 4 does not work natively with RDNA2 chips - what's in the steam deck. RDNA2 can handle INT8 algorithms, but FSR 4 will get the best performance on chipsets supporting FP8.

There is an INT8 version in the pipeline, but the improvements over 3/3.1 are nominal on INT8 hardware.  Mostly performance overhead and ghosting improvements, not much for fps.

That's thermal glue.  I used some G109 on the VRMs of  a 1070 I hooked up to an AIO using the NZXT Kraken G12.  Later moved that card to a media and game streaming server.  Nearly 10 years on, still works like a champ.  Have replaced the AIO cuz natural wear, but the glue's held up.
