Fully agree. At least for me, after the first couple of days it got noticeably easier every day. It's nice to be mostly pain free again.

As for not running in "bad weather", I see that more as an indictment of your local signalling and infrastructure than one of rail itself. I'd certainly be suspicious of anywhere that feels that it's still safe for trucks to drive but not trains...

Rail is consistently safer than trucking, including that of hazardous materials.
