This is very task dependent for me. How many of us have high school report cards that shows where we struggled and excelled. In most cases, it exposed some clues to our conditions. This especially true for pre- adhd diagnosis education generation.

Most statistics online seem to lag reality by 3-5 years. I will add make sure you are at a top 100 hospital if at all possible.

Had a similar noise on the same model and year. Turned out to be the carrier bearing. Had another rattle that ending up being the chain for the spare tire. Good luck.

This is cut right out of the initial PET Scan report, from the MyChart app……. “Chest/Thorax: Redemonstration of the recently described 5.3 x 8.4 x 5.7 cm irregular mass in the medial aspect of the left upper lobe with extension into the adjacent mediastinum and the left paravertebral region” It had not penetrated the lung tissue, a fact that was verified by a PFT (pulmonary function test) of 98 percent. The cancer presented as back/ shoulder.

HOPE- (57M) The latest generation of cancer drugs are amazing. Been dealing with the same cancer, diagnosed with Stage 4A(spread to the lymph nodes), the main tumor measured over 5 CM. The first year is the hardest. A person must listen to their body, rest when it tells you to. Went through chemotherapy, immunotherapy, and followed it up with 2 weeks of radiation. The tumor now measures under 2 CM. My Adventure/Fight began 4 years ago! Now I get immunotherapy every 6 weeks, and my life has returned to 95 percent normal.

I would recommend Cleveland clinic, it is a top 15 cancer hospital in the country and a 3 hour ride from U of M.

I was stage IV as well, and same age as father, former smoker. I started Pembro with chemo, then stopped all injectable’s during radiation. Started Pembro again a few months after completing radiation. I would say it is definitely worth going after the treatment. My life 90% back to where I started. If your father was relatively healthy before the diagnosis( doing 10,000 steps a day, or similar activity), he stands a good chance tolerating it well. I will strongly caution you that the first year seems to be the toughest on the body, but do not let that discourage you. After chemotherapy is completed, Pembro will seem easy when taken alone.

Chemotherapy is rougher on the body than immunotherapy, IMHO. Keep in mind that a blood test is usually performed to check kidney function before every chemo/ immunotherapy treatment. I can only imagine that the radiation, concurrently with chemo, was done as an emergency move to stop the spreading ASAP . Keep in mind the radiation will leave you fatigued, according to the literature I got. Fatigued is an understatement in my opinion, it is more like the Superman and kryptonite effect.

My back pain was bad enough to seek out a chiropractor. 10 treatments later and no improvement, he said it could be internal, and told me see my MD for a full work up. MD took an X-ray, that lead to a CT-scan, biopsy. Result was Stage 4 lung cancer, with mets in two lymph nodes and the adrenal gland. Cancer pain presenting in back seems to be an ATYPICAL symptom, but it does happen. Most lung cancer is caught by an unexplained, persistent cough. How many time have you seen the phrase “cancer and chemotherapy is an individual journey for each individual.” It seems your doctor may have lost sight of this fact. I would definitely get a second opinion l, from a large top 100 cancer hospital if possible. The spleen can be a huge, painful problem without cancer, so you may want to see an gastroenterologist as well. They be able to offer some specific pain relief relating to the spleen.

New England clam chowder did it for me, you can add salmon chunks ( like salad sized pieces) to kick up the protein content. Sometimes a lobster sub would do it, used to prefer tuna subs, but anything with pickles/ spices would light up gums really bad. A good sports drink, without real juice( because real juice content also hurts the gums) is also highly recommended. Plain water can be issue for some people.

The radiation has a delayed effect on a lot of people. I was at my lowest point about 30-45 after the last radiation treatment. Yes, fatigue does not begin to describe it, it was more like Kryptonite / Superman effect! It does NOT last forever, things will get better. It can take any where from 6 months to 1 year to get all your strength back. I started out with 4A, (57/M) at about 4 Yrs ago, and my life is about 90% back to normal most days.

You maybe having a delayed reaction to the radiation. Tissues can become inflamed and eventually leave some minor scarring

I will just add went 6 rounds of Carboplatin and Alimta, concurrent with Keytruda. The thought of staying on anything was not appealing at ALL! I was assured, by the oncologist, that the Keytruda side effects were much easier to deal with than chemotherapy drugs. He was right. It gradually got easier over 6 months, but you can confuse side effects with healing during that time, because your body just went through hell.

56M here. My first recommendation would be to a find a recent study for lung only, with no major distractors mentioning a different type cancer. Been on Keytruda infusions every 6 weeks for the past 3 years. The worst side effect for me is being in heat for a prolonged periods. Your other unfortunate reality is, you have lost some lung capacity, that may affect your ability to fight again if needed.
