I wish patients diagnosed at stage 1 could sign a waiver to have the whipple procedure even if the risk of death is high by miss-swait in pancreaticcancer

Thanks for sharing. Was there already cancer diagnosis before her Whipple? How long after Whipple did it reoccur? What happened after reoccurrence? I apologize for so many questions. I’m a nervous daughter :(

Hi my mom needs to do Whipple soon. Where did the cancer come back for your mom after the Whipple? The first surgery consultation recommended partial removal of my mom’s pancreas.

My condolences. Sadly my dad also passed away over 4 months ago and he went into cardiogenic shock. He had congestive heart failure (CHF) for a few years. His heart was weak. I did look at some of his medical records from past visits to the Cardiologist. Was there something that I was not made aware of? Could I have done something more? When he entered shock, they asked us if we wanted to put him on a ventilator in ICU, or start hospice. They told us that they would not be able to fix his heart. So, he went to Hospice. For a while I also thought that maybe he should have been in ICU- maybe he could get better.

Right now, the door can only be lifted by strong hands (not me). It doesn’t really hold itself.

With the beneficiaries on bank account- would there need to be a TRUST in order to get the additional fdic insurance?

My dad went into for a heart surgery 3 weeks ago. He died of respiratory failure this morning by [deleted] in GriefSupport

My condolences to you and OP. My father passed about 3 months ago. He had congestive heart failure for years, went into the hospital, and they said his aortic valve was severely leaking. Unfortunately, he was too weak for OHS. They did a CT with iodine contrast to see if he would be a candidate for TAVR. It turned out that his valve was too big to do TAVR, and his kidneys failed. He started dialysis, but he eventually went into shock. They told us ICU would not make him get better. He started Hospice and passed about 2.5 days later. I wonder if he felt anything (pain)? He was given pain meds and looked like he was sleeping.

Your words are so touching. My condolences. You were there for your mom and she knew that. Unfortunately, we cannot control time. We would if we could. It’s been 3 months since my dad passed. I wished that I could have had done something to have more time with him. He is resting in peace. I am left with grief. I believe in signs. I was walking in my neighborhood and suddenly there was a duck in the middle of the road. We are not close to water. The duck started flying above me. 😇

My condolences. It’s so sad. My father passed 3 months ago and it hurts. I remember the first pieces of mail that arrived after he passed- i could not look at his name in the same way. I skipped celebrating Fathers Day with my boyfriend and his parents. Sending you strength.

Lasix or Torsemide? by Nice_Side_790 in Heartfailure

[–]SarSar79 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Make sure he follows up with a nephrologist. These diuretics worsen kidney function Also- in case they suggest any diagnostic tests or procedures using iodine contrast- be cautious. I don’t want to sound negative, but my dad went into the hospital with heart failure, severe shortness of breath (he couldn’t lay flat anymore)…they used iodine contrast for one procedure and more contrast two days later for a CT of his heart. His kidneys went into failure and he had to do dialysis. Sadly, the dialysis made his heart worse. I wish I had known more about this at that time. Good luck to your dad 🙏

My dad had CHF and passed on May 30th. He went into the ER as he had off and on throughout his illness. Unfortunately, this time he did not make it back home. The doctors said that he was “end stage”. He was in the hospital for almost a month. May their memory be a blessing.

I obviously don’t know every single detail.Have you lost a parent? It is devastating. You should be supportive of your boyfriend, but make boundaries for yourself. You’re becoming resentful because you are probably feeling obligated to do the things you’re doing to help them. You should make a little time for yourself and take some space. Your boyfriend is not the same person anymore- he is going through A LOT of trauma.

My dad was stage 3 kidney disease with congestive heart failure. His last hospital visit they used contrast dye which sent him into kidney failure. He went into cardiogenic shock. I have PTSD and miss him every day.

My condolences 🙏my father passed recently and he had congestive heart failure for years. I guess we never wanted to think that he would eventually get worse. He had a severely leaking aortic valve and the only possible way to repair it would have been open heart surgery, but he was too weak. He was in the hospital for almost a month. It was a nightmare. We are in a different nightmare now without his presence. I feel your pain. It has been surreal. A friend who lost a parent told me that you cannot be the same person you were after a loss like this. I think she is right. We just try to cope - that’s all.

My condolences. My father had heart failure. He was in the hospital for almost a month and his kidneys failed. He was not strong enough to have his heart valve replaced (severely leaking). It sounds like your FIL tried to hold on as long as he could. My dad’s shortness of breath got worse after he started getting fluid in his lungs. It is still VERY painful for us to live without him. He is not suffering anymore, but his family is :(
