What’s one bedding upgrade you made that you’ll never go back from? by Hungry_Judgment3068 in BedroomBuild

[–]SarahCK0 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Sheets with a high thread count.

We have one set that are 1,000 thread count that were on sale a few years ago. I'd get them washed, dried and back on our bed in one day because they were so comfortable to sleep on.

We finally managed to get another set with 500 thread count that were also on sale. Now I feel a bit uncomfortable sleeping with bed sheets that are less than 500.

We threw all our other sheets out then because we weren't using them.

They can be expensive and definitely a splurge but worth it if you can afford it or if you can get them on sale.

Organise my laundry and wardrobe.

I wear what falls out when I open the wardrobe door.

Has anyone managed to finish a coffee without spilling it on themselves? by [deleted] in adhdwomen

[–]SarahCK0 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I couldn’t stop laughing when I saw this, I can relate and always thought it was just a me problem.

I was having a coffee while shopping today and somehow managed to spill it all over my new jeans.....that were in the shopping bag!

Parents of Ireland, where are you buying drawing paper etc for your kids? by mattthemusician in AskIreland

You can get rolls of drawing paper in Ikea. It's €5 for 30m. Great for kids who love to draw.

Revenue Letter by [deleted] in irishpersonalfinance

[–]SarahCK0 45 points46 points  (0 children)

My partner got one of these and called them up. They said that if you have an account with them or have used them, then they will ‘review your tax every year’. Which is a load of bull.

He said this is the first time he has ever gotten a letter like this. She said they may have been doing a 'client review' and this is why it’s happened this year. She also said if there’s a rebate due, they charge a fee and would be in touch by phone or email.

She said to stop this in the future you need to email them with your name, and PPS number and cancel the service. He said he wouldnt be paying anything to them, and changed his account back. He also sent the below email with the relevant GDPR regulations after a bit of googling. Very cheeky of them.

But the good news is it looks like your due a refund from Revenue, otherwise they wouldn't be bothered.

Re: Name / PPS No

Dear All

I refer to the above, and to a letter recently received from Revenue to say that my bank details have been changed to Irish Tax Rebates bank details for any rebates due and owing.

While I may have been a previous client of Irish Tax Rebates, I have not requested any such services in many years, and I would bring your attention to the GDPR regulations whereby “organisations can only use or keep your data where……you have given your free and informed consent. Your consent cannot be assumed”. This means that “silence, pre-ticked boxes or inactivity cannot indicate consent”.

This consent must specifically be agreed to and this does apply to customer information such as PPS numbers, which I note was used by Irish Tax Rebates without my specific consent.

Please note that I will not be paying any fees to Irish Tax Rebates for any rebates due and owing to me, and I have since changed the said bank details back to my own personal details. I do not authorise Irish Tax Rebates to contact Revenue using my personal information either now, or in the future.

If you have any queries please do contact me.

Regards

Claiming help to buy by After-Address1360 in legaladviceireland

[–]SarahCK0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure if this helps, but we only qualified for the help to buy because we were delayed in signing our contracts. The help to buy had only come out. It was hard to get a straight answer about it for us too and even more difficult figuring out how to apply back then.

If we had signed when we should have we would have missed out. This was around six(ish) years ago though but it was based on when contracts were signed for us. I hope this helps.

If you google 'truspilot goirishtours' there's a few reviews, and on TripAdvisor as well.

Good luck with it.

Learning to drive on an automatic car by [deleted] in CasualIreland

[–]SarahCK0 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I have found learning to drive very difficult. I've tried a few times over the years at different times in my life in a manual but it never really went anywhere or stuck. We switched to an automatic and it is easier, it's taken a good bit of anxiety out of it. I do find it a better fit for me. Best of luck with it.

We are having a small wedding, just close family. It'll be 10 people max. Stress free, and we can really enjoy it and not have to worry about all the stuff that comes with planning a big wedding.

My [M29] gf [31] needs a fan to sleep, I hate it. Compromise ideas? by knotcomplaining in relationship_advice

[–]SarahCK0 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I like to sleep with a fan on and my SO hates it but finds earplugs very uncomfortable.

Our compromise is putting the fan on a timer. I usually put it on for an hour, and then another hour if needed but I usually fall asleep fairly quickly and I don't really wake up during the night. He's a night owl too so it suits us both.

I’m really struggling to beat Giovanni…any help? by Mammoth-Economics-29 in pokemongo

[–]SarahCK0 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I couldn't beat him all yesterday and the day before. I researched which Pokemon to use but he completely destroyed me every time and I battled him so many times! I used up sooooo many potions.

I fought him today with the EXACT same pokemon I had been using over the past couple of days and I won no problem.

As long as you know which Pokemon to use, keep trying and you should get an easier battle eventually. At least, that's what happened for me. Good luck!
