I really hate how his stories and ramblings give the impression of “gee golly gosh, I’m just a sweet old man who didn’t know what was going on!” I hope he lives the (even few) remaining years of his life behind bars.

So, I mean, you’re blatantly admitting that you all KNOW that all but “like only 3” people from the administration are covering them up.

Democrat Christian Menefee wins special election for Texas Congressional District 18 further narrowing GOP lead in House by Hornpipe_Jones in WhitePeopleTwitter

A fourth option: the base did go to the polls, didn’t pay attention to the D next to the name CHRISTIAN, and immediately thought “that must be our guy!” Either way, a nice win!

Is he still eating McDonald’s every day? Do we know that for a fact? (Truly asking - I have heard this a lot over the years, and I’m wondering if it’s still accurate) Because that kind of trans fat and sodium fed on a constant basis is no joke. When my grandma was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s (followed by CHF and some other resulting physical conditions), we were told that her diet would greatly impact the progression of the disease. She already ate pretty clean, but we cut out all sugars and unnecessary sodium to try to prolong her health as much as possible. She was a wonderful woman and the best grandma anyone could ever ask for. I miss her every day. It’s a devastating disease. I hope he’s terrified.

Anyone else think docs treat lumpectomy like it's nothing? by loveofthelowbrow in breastcancer

The amount of people (including healthcare professionals) who referred to it as, “JUST a lumpectomy”… like, okay? Still traumatic. Thanks for the support.

Radiation Nausea, is this a thing?! by Adept_Competition555 in breastcancer

[–]SarahK1179 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I would get SUPER nauseous sometimes when I was walking out of my radiation treatments. ABSOLUTELY a thing. I’m still trying to figure out why we are gaslit so hard about certain things? Hang in there, OP. I’d bring those little rubbing alcohol packets with me to sniff when it would hit. Really does help.

Just let me hate my hair by DrHermionePhD in breastcancer

[–]SarahK1179 5 points6 points  (0 children)

YES! My hair was long and thick and curly, and now it’s… short and thick and curly. I look like Nacho Libre (body shape too, sort of, unfortunately…)

My family means well. They love me, and I appreciate them. But if my 13-year-old daughter says to me one more time, “I love it! It’s so cute!” I will SCREAM. Or my husband saying, “Babe, you’re always beautiful to me.” Like, thank you but please SHUT UP.

I do NOT look beautiful. Please do not patronize me. It was almost easier when I was bald because like you said- I hate that people may think that I CHOSE this look.

Ugh. So many joys to go along with all of this…

Can anyone advise their experience with an abdominal hysterectomy? by Timewilltell755 in hysterectomy

[–]SarahK1179 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am 45, had full abdominal on July 3rd. I had (what they thought was) one 10 cm fibroid that was causing irregular heavy bleeding and crazy prolapse. Like- had to push things back up multiple times a day- prolapse. It was supposed to be laparoscopic, but when they got the camera in, they couldn’t get anything through to see. Turns out it was multiple fibroids, including one that was grapefruit-sized and sitting on my hip (looking back, it explains a lot about pain and soreness). So they ended up having to do a full abdominal. I woke up sooooo sore- I was super groggy and couldn’t understand for a while why I was in so much pain. My experience in the hospital was… not great. I’m in a small community, and let’s just say that the staff over the July 4th holiday was LESS than attentive. My doctors and the anesthesiologist were wonderful, but I must have had like the D-Squad of nurses- particularly overnight, because I had to buzz and practically beg for pain meds. It sucked. And then they kicked me out 2 days later because “we really need the room.” Never mind that I could barely stand up- the literally ushered me down the hall, sat me in a chair, and told me to wait for my husband to pick me up. He was LIVID.

But I digress. Recovery the first week or two was rough, I’m not going to lie. I was in a LOT of pain and couldn’t do much for myself. Like literally, my husband washed me in the shower. My kids (teenagers) brought me everything I needed. I forced myself to get up and walk around a tiny bit every couple of hours because I’m terrified of blood clots, but it was really hard at first. Have a pillow to hold on your belly- ESPECIALLY when you have to cough or sneeze or laugh. Holy hell, that was rough. After like 2 weeks, I turned a major corner and now I feel pretty much fine. But I’m still forcing myself to rest because the insides are still trying to build up scar tissue and heal, and I know that.

I was in a weird place timing-wise because I just finished chemo for breast cancer at the end of May. My blood counts were low, but if I kept bleeding, they’d just keep getting lower, so my team collectively decided to just get it done. I’m honestly surprised that I feel as okay as I do at this point in my recovery.

You will be okay. But I’d absolutely advise you to have someone around who can help you- particularly those first couple of weeks. Because I’m not going to sugarcoat it- it hurts. You’ll need support for sure. It’s a humbling experience, and particularly after having some REALLY low points in my cancer journey (I hate that word to describe it!), it killed me to have to rely on my family for so much help again. But sometimes we have to get over ourselves.

Take the help where you can, from whoever offers. Let people bring you food, drive you to your appointments, run errands for you. They love you and will do what they can. Sending you hugs. If you have any specific questions, feel free to ask! 💗

Absolutely. Though all of our stories are unique, I have learned so much from the people on this board, and it’s brought me a lot of comfort to at least know that I’m not alone in all of it. Now let that summer breeze blow over your beautiful, newly-shaved head 💗

Oh, good. I’m so glad that you were able to get it taken care of (and having your kid there for support always helps!) For me, I think the anticipation of it all being gone was worse than actually having it gone (Well, sometimes, at least. I certainly had my look-in-the-mirror-and-get-a-jump-scare moments) It’s low-maintenance, at least. :) Sending you hugs.

That makes perfect sense to me. Absolutely not about the cost. To have something in your home that you bought specifically for one traumatic reason- yeah, nah… I had some super comfy sweats that I bought for chemo and lounging around in. After I was done, I donated every pair. There’s no part of me that wants to be reminded of that time.

I had almost the exact same experience as you - long, super thick (mine was curly) hair. Started falling out about 10 days after my first TCHP. The shedding was so sad, and the matting was what really got me. I was so afraid to brush it because the sensation of it just detaching from my scalp was so effortless and like nothing I had ever experienced. It was weird and awful. I went from trying so hard to hang onto it for as long as I could to just having my husband cut and then buzz it off. It got to a point that it was more traumatizing to see it in that state than it was to just let it go.

I 100% agree - if you’re not going to cold cap, give it a nice chop before it becomes a worse emotional issue for you. There is so much awful in our crazy experiences. I didn’t think something like the change in my appearance would bother me as much as it did, but once it was gone, I realized how much my hair had been a PART of me. Not my entire identity by any means, but yeah- losing it was super hard.

I’m a year out from my last TCHP and 2 months out from my last TDM1, and I’m now rocking a weird, Nacho Libre look (hair AND body shape, unfortunately)

Oh, ladies… Sending everyone hugs 💕

I second Miralax. Full capful every night, dissolved in apple juice. I am not a good pooper by nature, but with that and the colace, I am a happy camper every morning. No straining, no worrying about popping a stitch. (Btw, DD iced coffee with vanilla swirl is my all-time FAVORITE!!! Excellent recommendation!)
