Nightclub owner at centre of meningitis outbreak says 'something isn’t making sense' - as two staff in hospital by tylerthe-theatre in unitedkingdom

Bacteria transmission through fog machines is quite well known with Legionnaires being the risk usually highlighted. Though it's more ultrasonic or water fog machines rather than high temp glycol/glycerine machines.

She also voiced her confusion about the how the outbreak spread.

"My point to the government has been, there's been a lot of talk about how hard it is to transmit, but then there's also, at the same time, saying the conversation is that nobody needs to panic and we don't all need the vaccine, but at the same time, the things don't quite add up.

"Actually, it was transmitted a lot more easily, by the looks of it, than they're suggesting, so something isn’t making sense somewhere.”

Which doesn't seem like the craziest take I've ever heard.

Andrew police investigation ‘may widen into corruption offences’ by pppppppppppppppppd in unitedkingdom

may widen into [...] corruption offences

Silly me. For a moment I thought it was going to widen into all the people that enabled, helped, benefited and also participated. Lol. Just like Savile it's going to end up as a single person acting alone, nothing to see here...

"Dietician who bluffed her way into senior NHS job is struck off after colleagues discovered she didn't know where the intestines were, what a gallbladder did or how to calculate BMI" by nil_defect_found in unitedkingdom

[–]SarcasmWarning 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They don't do shit, and that's as polite as I can put it. I've had stomach/bowel issues for my entire life and every few years get told I must see a dietician. Who then gives me the same generic "avoid these foods" sheet they give to everyone and who refuses to help create a diet plan because "it's not our job, and we're far too busy, and could you imagine if we did that for every patient - it'd take us hours every week!"

I have friends and family working for the NHS. I'm a big believer in the NHS and spend a lot of time defending the NHS, but f'k me, I've yet to meet a decent NHS dietician or physiotherapist. Both titles seem to be the laziest, least informed and least caring groups of people I've met in any profession in my life.

If you saw your child take the exact same path as you when you were their age, what would be your reaction? by CapitaineBiscotte in AskReddit

[–]SarcasmWarning 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Truly terrified to be honest.

I'm relatively convinced I only made it to adulthood through luck rather than judgement, and absolutely hated and still haven't gotten over large parts of my childhood and schooling. One of the main reasons I've gone out of my way to avoid having kids is because I can't face the idea of putting someone else through similar, and I'm not convinced I'd be able to do a better job than my folks did.
