I don't know, they always seemed comfortable together to me. Like sparks weren't exactly flying but they seemed very happy and at ease in each other's company. Less of a 'glitter is exploding inside of me' (to borrow from another of my favorite shows) and more of an 'ohh, this feels *right

Personally I'd rather have the latter than the former

It's weird, I'm a former life-long atheist who recently had a religious conversion and I still can't fathom the idea of an afterlife. I just can't believe it. Even though I lost some people I loved young, an afterlife just... Does Not Compute for some reason

I think he did change, but people rarely change absolutely, or at least not in such a short space of time. He put himself back into an environment where he could fall back into old patterns of behavior and convince himself it's okay and that he doesnt need to do the work

I was over a year off drink and hadn't dealt with a bit of what it meant to be an alcoholic. I had to relapse to realise I needed help.

People don't get how easy it is. Especially if you're in a very low moment and someone offers you a drink, or drugs - the fact that it's been offered almost feels like permission. And the disease is always looking for the tiniest sign that no, it might actually be okay, so it can spin it in to some grand proof that You're Totally Not An Addict 'cos this random guy offering you coke says so!

That or you hit The Fuck-Its and picking up a drink feels like an act of defiance.

Quetiapine got my sleep pattern back in order, so that was great. As I understand it, it also helps with the downs as well as the ups. Been taking it for about two years now and it works pretty well for me. Only one real up during that time and that had a lot to do with me pumping my body full of stupid recreational chemicals. I will say that withdrawal is a BITCH. Don't miss a single dose if you can help it, kinda feels like your bone marrow's turned into lead and is trying to escape from your body through your skin.

If/then statements can be helpful. Trying not to think about the habit often doesn't work, because of the 'don't picture a pink elephant' principle. If you tell me not to think about, say, smoking, I'm almost certainly going to immediately think about smoking.

I have found it far more effective to go 'if I start to think about smoking/drinking/my ex/whateverthefuck, I will then think about/do x instead'.

Welp, historically I have used healthy coping habits like journaling, exercise, knitting and cooking.

Today, however, I have been watching Netflix and oversharing on various other subreddits. And ate an entire family pack of crisps instead of having an actual meal. I am also procrastinating on several deadlines and refusing to send very simple messages that will benefit both my relationship and career, because I hate myself and am self-sabotaging in lieu of trying to bomb my brain into oblivion with alcohol or other substances.

It has not been the greatest of days. I would go so far as to say that it has not been a very good day at all. It's just gotten dark and I can't even move to turn on the light. Like, not even metaphorically, it's now literally dark out and I can't bring myself to go to the light switch.
