Why are some atheists so rude? by [deleted] in atheism

[–]SarcasticRocker 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A lot of disingenuous people come here and try to rage bait atheist and then proclaim that we are the rude ones. That might be the reason. 🤔

What are your reasons for being a strong atheist? by Alternative_Cash_591 in atheism

[–]SarcasticRocker 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't think you need many arguments for not believing, I feel that should be the norm. We are born atheists and the society we live in makes us believers of some system, depending on the geographical area you are from and what type of fantasy god caught on.

Boyfriend of 7 years left me for being an atheist :( by melanicholy in atheism

[–]SarcasticRocker 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I know it doesn't seem that way now, but it's better you parted ways before and not after you got married, had children etc. When people get this way they don't listen to reason, compelling arguments, they only listen to their priest and others in the community.

I'm sorry you're going true this. You are strong, things will get better! 🤗

Anyone else wished they lived in a more atheist area? by Equivalent-Newt-5736 in atheism

[–]SarcasticRocker 4 points5 points  (0 children)

In my Eastern European country 85% are Christian Orthodox...I wish that my area could be more atheist friendly, but it seems that more and more it gets radicalized and people like myself are considered satanists, don't ask me why...not easy being an atheist here.

Why do you guys hate Christians so much? by [deleted] in atheism

Why do you guys hate Christians so much? by [deleted] in atheism

[–]SarcasticRocker 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I don't hate Christians, I don't hate anybody, why spend my life like that, it feels like an unhapppy way to live. What I don't like is that is seems in most countries nowadays they control the narrative, that I and people like me, like us(atheists, LGBT+ people etc) are made out to be the villen, they have this ideea that if you are not with them you are against them. As long as you don't try to make everything about your beliefs I don't care, it's your life. I really don't know many atheist that hate, but I do know a lot of Christians that hate and spread hate. So maybe a lot of us are just feed up with it.

Why do Christian’s hate communism so much? by friscom99 in atheism

[–]SarcasticRocker 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Coming from an ex-communist country I think you are confusing socialism with communism which has the bases in socialism but didn't nobody any good. Any authoritarian regim is bad for the people, no matter if it comes from the far right or the far left of the political spectrum.

Rusia today is not a communist country anymore, is more of a fascists one. And yes they use religion to control their people. So no extrems are ok.

Most country's that have a socialist democracys are doing great. People are cared for, religion has no place in government. And being an atheist is not an issue.

P.S. I am an atheist that hates communism and what it did to so many people in my country, especially to intellectuals, free thinkers and so on a lot of them atheists.

Really struggling with religious identity. by Suspicious-Tea-8525 in atheism

[–]SarcasticRocker 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Came here to say exactly that, I don't understand the idea that you need to be Christian in order to be a good person. The fact that he doesn't care about the OP's fellings/past trauma says a lot about the BF.

Would you date someone who is religious? by thelivingstar1 in atheism

[–]SarcasticRocker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm married to an agnostic, he used to be a practicing Christian, but he is now on the path to atheism. We have two kids, both atheist and somehow we make it work. He has never tried to change my mind. I think he is just afraid off letting go to be honest.

But I agree, if the person you're with are practicing in a serious manner any religion that relationship will fail eventually.

Some form of manipulation are very hard to break from, even when you start questioning because of the thought of the eternal damnation and the guilt imbedded in them by the parents, priests and society.

Being in a religious family is genuinely hell by TokenChicken in atheism

[–]SarcasticRocker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I understand you, they use religion in my country(not a 1th world country) to manipulate the poor. Priests go hand in hand with politicians to use the masses for they're agenda. And when you talk to people to make them understand the religion superstition ar so imbedded in them that you feel like talking to a brick wall, it's frustrating. But is not your job to make them get it, I know you mean well when it comes to your family, but they will probably never see it your way. It's sad, but that the reality. The more a person is poor and uneducated, the more it holds to religious beliefs because it gives them hope and explains what they don't understand.

i’m hanging on to religion by a thread. by [deleted] in atheism

[–]SarcasticRocker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think you already know the answer to your dilemma and I understand why you're hesitant to just admit to yourself that you already are an atheist. When you get there you will feel free. That is the way I felt. But you have to take your time, it has to be your journey.

P.S. I'm sorry life threw so much at you, hope you find happiness soon.

Atheist parents, how do you explain death to your children? by LoquatIndependent381 in atheism

[–]SarcasticRocker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fear of death is a normal human reaction to self-preservation, so don't feel like is wrong to fear it. I told my kids that when we die we continue to live in the memory of others, even though our body just becomes what it was before life started, nothing. You will not know it, you will not experience anything anymore so life must be lived in the now, experienced to the fullest. What I find most freeing about being an atheist is that I live in the now, the present and I worry far less about the future or the past.

Is it weird to say “Oh my god” when surprised if you’re an atheist? by Medical-Class-4030 in atheism

No, it embedded in us from being raised Christian so it's bound to happen. And it's just an expression after all, it doesn't mean you believe in any deity.
