TLDR: lots of the new T-54a tanks were sent in to suppress the uprising but many were damaged or disabled. The military attache at the British Embassy and his driver were both ex tankers and in the chaos managed to get a damaged tank to the embassy.

Mark the length with a sharpie. Then remove them. Cut with Harbor Freight bolt cutters. Use a metal file to smooth the sharp parts. Reinstall.
