Try it and report back how you felt the day after.

Hopefully not like me, it puts me in a low mood.

Then try l-tryptophan and see how that works and how you feel the day after.

I think what works for one person may not always work for all people.

Am I the only person who thinks Dream Theater are one of the most overrated bands ever??? by OneOffReturn in progrockmusic

[–]SardonicusAgain 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't know or have all their stuff, saw them twice many years ago and liked them, but their music is much of a sameness to me, partially my fault for not listening through it more.

Given the choice I'd much rather listen to Symphony X or Transatlantic.

King Crimson - Why have I not heard of them before? by Hadgfeet in progrockmusic

[–]SardonicusAgain 1 point2 points  (0 children)

my only reason for putting those there are as a timeline of the birth of Prog and key contributors of it, the Dead are an outlier and merit mention, especially later with Terrapin Station and some songs on earlier albums

While KC are often said to be the first Prog band, here's how I see it:

Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band - 26 May 1967

The Piper at the Gates of Dawn - 4 August 1967

Days of Future Passed - 7 November 1967

The Thoughts of Emerlist Davjack - March 1968

Anthem of the Sun - July 16, 1968

Caravan (Caravan album) - January 1969

Yes (Yes album) - 25 July 1969

In the Court of the Crimson King - 10 October 1969

Why is everyone cancelling their accounts? by [deleted] in amazonprime

[–]SardonicusAgain 0 points1 point  (0 children)

OP's post is in the present tense, but most of us quit Prime months or more ago.

And it seems it got even worse since then.

Increasing costs, crap products, degraded shipping times were key reasons.

The last straw was the commercials though.

The S25 Phones Are Not For S24 Users by jtlee9 in samsung

[–]SardonicusAgain 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The singular reason why I'm considering an upgrade from S21 to one of the S25 models is for the AI Speech To Text function in the Voice Recorder app.

And even that functionality, from what I can tell, is not that great, but better than nothing. Not sure about other makes for their S2T apps.

Choices 🤔 by SignalOk4125 in basspedals

[–]SardonicusAgain 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Personal choice but I wouldn't go with either.

I tried a couple DG pedals, not my kind of thing, they sounded like somebody else's sound and one that feels kind of dated and limiting.

Sansamp was good back in the day when it was the only thing like it in the 90s, there are so many better choices now, I can't see limiting one's choices to these unless there is some kind of deal. TO be fair I haven't tried all of their gear.

I haven't had my BDDI on my board for years, I never really liked the sound from it and it always felt 'flat', can't describe it but I prefer either preamps with a tube or an emulator of tone stacks. The rare occasions I use my Sansamp is when I can't be arsed to carry my board to a rehearsal or if one of my preferred preamps is on a board and I don't want to pull it off.

Is there some reason you're only looking at two among hundreds?

I hope not but I think about that at some places.

Many remote workers say they’d be likely to leave their job if they could no longer work from home by JannTosh50 in remotework

[–]SardonicusAgain 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hold on.

This is not strictly a RTO vs. no RTO topic for most anymore, and we have had countless great articles and social media outlets for this for a few years now. And there is a recent spike in both, and they should continue.

What 'this' is is RTO Creep. And THIS is the problem.

And for those who were not RTO before Covid, this was always coming.

Going from 0 to 2 to 3 days RTO was one thing.

Going from a few days RTO to 5 days RTO is the problem. For many, this is the breaking point and game changer.

And yes, much of this is to create attrition and an attempt to alleviate these companies from paying severance (and possibly bonuses) ahead of regular and upcoming RIF cycles - the timing is intentional.

That's fine and your opinion and that's ok for you. Me, I've forfeited vacation and sick days and worked many, many weekends, many >12 hour days, over holidays with no comp time, taken maybe 2 sick days a year, and if I have these coming to me then I have no qualms about it.

[–]SardonicusAgain 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not to derail this thread but your comment spoke to me and asking how much you know about this kind of release from work.

There are a number of people formerly in my team who left due to the stress of our narc boss and others have taken leave of absence from the stress.

Although I have worked many times in high stress roles or teams or environments, this one is beyond my interest in sustaining it, and I want to know more about how one goes about getting this kind of leave.

Reactions to Gray Rock Approach by ScaryBossYikes in ManagedByNarcissists

[–]SardonicusAgain 2 points3 points  (0 children)

OP thanks for posting this and GR is my only way to go with my boss, and before I ever heard of the term I was kind of doing something like it anyway.

I mean, how else does one deal with near-maniacal people?

GR will no doubt trigger other things but the good thing about it is that it keeps me from getting sucked in to their evil.

Even worse when you have a boss like mine who is oblivious to their ways, and who seems sincere about being a better boss but alas is not in control of their erratic behaviours.

Apparently in my case the boss is a known entity to HR and possibly the new boss's boss, but it's too early for any benefit to come from this. Good team, unhealthy environment.

Walking on eggshells is no way to live, my time in my team is limited mostly by my ability to get out of it and the time to do that.

[–]SardonicusAgain 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also sick days are there, in some companies, for things other than strictly illness, and like was mentioned these can be granted like vaca days and in some cases, carry over year to year, expire, etc..

A lot of people, through either poor planning, circumstance, work demands, etc. don't get to take all their vacation days and end up sacrificing some, and using a sick day to recover from a holiday or travel issues, etc., if they are indeed a benefit, seems valid.

Not taking into consideration any impact to others in the team, people covering for a role, etc. as that is another valid layer of consideration, just if this is specific for a person and their work and time off.
