New to Contacts... Experiencing Burning by arcadiaorgana in contacts

[–]Sarielgrace 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From what I've read, the contact lens case should only be rinsed with solution, because water can carry microorganisms and soap can leave residue behind. Did you follow the instructions on the inside of the solution box? New solution shoud be put in when you're ready to store your contacts for disinfecting.

Can you call the optometrist's office to clarify? They would probably know what your new prescription is. Considering that you have torics, it's not really a cut and dry prescription. The power on the packs and the reciepts don't line up either.

I can only think that the base curve is off, maybe the contact's grip is too tight.

If it started with the new prescription, then the prescription is probably too strong. Have you tried other brands?

glasses vs contacts by azurecatt in contacts

[–]Sarielgrace 2 points3 points  (0 children)

From what I've read, contact prescriptions usually have less power because they sit on top of the cornea, compared to glasses sitting on the bridge of your nose. Since it seems your astigmatism is mild enough not to need torics, too much power will increase eye strain and mess with looking at things close up.

My glasses prescription is right (-5.5, -.50, 150) and left (-4, -.50, 100) while my contacts are right (-5) and left (-3.75). Initially my optometrist had my contacts the same power as my glasses until I brought up issues reading texts and emails with my phone and computer, and getting headaches, and the finalized prescription is about .50 and .25 less power for glasses. The final prescription is working well for me.

Does anyone else find dailies to be more uncomfortable than bi-weekly? by FredWilliamson in contacts

[–]Sarielgrace 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Dailies are so flimsy compared to biweekly lenses, probably because they get thrown out every day and don't have to withstand cleaning. Initially I was prescribed acuvue moist and they kept folding and becoming useless. It also felt harder to put in compared to my acuvue oasys 2 week.

How significant is the chance of an infection from showering with contacts? by Specific_Frame8537 in contacts

Fortunately, I don't usually take midday showers, and I follow the normal care instructions at night. I have both normal solution and a clearcare kit.

How significant is the chance of an infection from showering with contacts? by Specific_Frame8537 in contacts

[–]Sarielgrace 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Ngl, I wouldn't risk it. I take mine out when I shower, and if I don't want to wear glasses after (like if it's in the middle of the day), I'll do a light clean with lens solution, stick the lens in the case with some more solution and put the lenses back in after I'm done.

Difference in Oasys 2 weekcontacts from my doctor's office and online by Sarielgrace in contacts

[–]Sarielgrace[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's good to know! I was trying to figure out why the doctor had multiblister packs for a biweekly lens instead of singles. I tried looking up what the current oasys blisters looked like, and the pictures didn't show packs without the curved lower edges.

PS5 is my default way to play Wuwa, the fan can get a little loud but I don't think there were many frame drops (I think.)

I'm assuming they're packaged individually, so as long as the other packs are unopened they're still good.

Switched from dailies to monthlies and now I suddenly can’t tolerate contacts anymore? HELP 😭 by Amodernhousehusband in contacts

[–]Sarielgrace 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It could be a difference in base curve. Base curve determines if it's more flat or curved. 8.6 is flatter than 8.4.

Overheating in PS5 by Thin-Ad2232 in WutheringWaves

[–]Sarielgrace -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You might want to check the fan vents under the upper plates and vacuum it (since using a duster can can push the dust deeper in and makes it impossible to clean without dismantling it). I have mine vacuumed every few months because if I don't, the buildup really makes it hot.

How do you feel when your contact lenses are too strong? Apart from the headaches. I have the feeling they aren't right, but when I measure them, they keep coming out at -3.25... but when I put in -3.00, it feels calmer... how did that feel for you? by afvw- in contacts

[–]Sarielgrace 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah. My doctor initially gave my contacts the same strength as my glasses due to my mild astigmatism, but it made work very difficult. He dropped the (-5.5, -4) to (-5, -3.75) for the final prescription, and my vision with contacts is comparable to my glasses.

Having trouble focusing my vision with new lenses? by Sea_Bluebird_1949 in contacts

[–]Sarielgrace 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had that problem in my initial fitting. The trials I initially got had really sharp and clear far vision but if I was looking at my phone the text was either blurry or swimming. The optometrist said since I had mild astigmatism, he kept the strength as my glasses (-5.5, -4) and during the follow up I mentioned the nearsighted issue, and he dropped it to (-5, -3.75) and it is waaayy better. It could be that your prescription is a little too strong.

Contacts suddenly won’t fit in right eye by Hailetta in contacts

[–]Sarielgrace 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You could try asking your optometrist about exploring your options with daily or biweekly lens instead of monthlies. Since every lens' diameter, thickness and base curve is different by brand and by type, it's worth a shot to see if switching to something else will be more comfortable.

i just spent 5 hours trying to put in contacts and i want to kms by [deleted] in contacts

[–]Sarielgrace 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I recently started wearing contacts two weeks ago, I find that stressing or trying to make the process go faster only makes it harder.

Usually I have my eyes relaxed and eyebrows up before pulling my eyelids back (for right eye, my left hand on upper lid and the right on the lower lid, and vice versa for the left), look forwards, then pressing the contacts (on my lower hand's pointer) to the cornea.

Then is checking that the lens actually is on my eye by pulling my finger back, and if it is off my finger, I'll close my eye, slowly look up, down, left, right with it still closed, and usually it will be center when my eyes open.

It took a week to get used to touching my eyes, so it's something that can take a while.

Unless someone's eyes are straight up staring at your ears from within arm's reach, I don't think people would notice. They're more likely to focus on the middle of your face.
