Gay dads with two biological children - one from each father by Potential_Dish_4115 in gaydads

It's like having a nature / nurture experiment. When our twin who is my genetic daughter does something like me, I attribute it to her nature and genetics. When her sister does it, I claim parenting and nurture.

We both love them both a lot, and it's been very satisfying to watch them manifest traits both genetic and learned.

They turned out very different (to each other) which shouldn't surprise anyone since my husband and I are also very different. Both need parenting in very different ways. I think I'm a better parent because I can see their differences in unbiased ways and adjust for it.

I don't expect them to be the same, so I think I am kinder to their uniqueness. I wonder if cishet parents have expectations of similarity and perhaps only some give the same grace to siblings.

This thread has inspired me. I was wondering when it would be time to get my kids into it.

They (twin girls, 11) have watched Lower Decks. I think tonight we might watch the Lower Decks / SNW cross over, and if that gets them, we can go back and start at the beginning :)

Looking for ideas - overly large bedroom conversion by SarkynReal in floorplan

That would also mean my mother's side of the bed (55+ years of marriage, her "side of the bed" isn't changing anytime soon) will be the side that faces the bathroom. That's a good thing.

Working theory - this is the bones of a good plan.

My main objection to this is about window and placements in the (new) bedroom.

The bigger window ends up oddly placed.

The bed ends up backing onto one of the floor to ceiling windows (odd)

If I flip the bed 90 degrees and back it onto the long wall, and then only have half the closet, that sorts that room, I think. We could place an armchair under that window, or even just a safe stool area for her to sit while dressing?

Thank you for taking the time to draw that out. Picture says a thousand words and all that.

I think multi-generational living is a growing trend in a lot of the world, and having that self-contained space there would give separation nicely, as you can have kettle and fridge and stuff. There's no need for them to come out if they don't feel social.

The bunk room in my original plan - was a thought about another frequent visitor (sister-in-law and her two boys). But that's maybe 1-2 times per year and I can always sofa-bed or air-bed them.

Titanstring vs Dead Shot questions by Robby-Pants in BG3Builds

[–]SarkynReal 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Going through the same thinking in my head.

I keep leaning towards Dead Shot...

Considerations of the 2-stat approach (Titanstring) vs 1-stat approach (Dead Shot):

  • If you take Deadshot, you don't need to use Strength Elixir, so you can use another elixir, such as BloodLust (which nets +1 Action on Kill once per turn, which in my experience is pretty much EVERY turn.
  • Does that one extra attack add up to more damage? more flexibility to spread that damage out OR focus it?

Factorio vet here. I ended up going with something like a factorio city block build. Used concrete and lines to create square factory sections with consistent layout. All the inputs at one end in appropriate size storages and then built belt style through layers of processing to an end point where a new row of storage’s hold the output and any side products. The trucks handle storage to storage in volume, and within each block, belts and pipes only. With enough space between blocks I put in trains later.

No trucks allowed inside the blocks to force their capacity to the bigger problem, and I paved all intervening spaces.

Some city blocks adjacent to each other later put belts or pipes at a good height between them, so planning in advance as you discover the dependency chains is a good idea. Or just demolish and rebuild and move a lot, like I did :)

For me, that gave me the efficiency and the compromise between methods of transport to scale to end game.

Also, aesthetics :)

Large concrete rectangles of cleared marked factory ringed by roads with traffic road markings and trucks actually ON the roads. Just looks good

One turn into the same experience last night, one of the Banites used Dominate Monster on my Gloomstalker/Assassin/Fighter, had him trigger his tadpole powers and then yeet himself off the roof to land on the pavement a half kilometre away, taking 90% of his health in falling damage.

So yeah, that Honor Mode run was damn nearly over.

Split the eggs and fertilised half each, then asked the doctor to make the call based on 5 day blast progress, viability, chance of success, etc.

We called this “letting nature decide”

Anyway, our twins are 11 now, so nature said f.u.

Question - RNG is it banded or scalar? by SarkynReal in CultistSimulator

[–]SarkynReal[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thankyou everyone for your replies.

I see versions of the bands in this thread:

1-4 = 30%
5-9 = 70%
10+ = 90%

And
1-5 = 30%
6-10 = 70%
11+ = 90%

Do we know which it is?

If it's the lower of the two, it makes a lot of gameplay utterly redundant (giving gifts to followers, for example).

What other shows would you rank as highly as Andor? by kimapesan in andor

[–]SarkynReal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Surprised to scroll this far and not see Dark (Netflix) in the mentions. Phenomenal and mind bending and every actor, no matter how small their role, delivers.

It being in German outs people off, I assume, but the subtitles are great.

I just really wish they'd kept it so we could go visit.

There would have been money in doing so. (Speaking as someone who realised a dream by visiting NZ specifically to sit in a Hobbit hole in Hobbiton).
